Sorry for the late response...I didn't see your post until just now (0330, my time) lol
I got the 4.3 stock MJE image file from this thread:

EASY Steps To Update To MJE: (Factory Stock)
- Download MJE tar file from Beanstown106's Firmware Collection Thread
- Flash MJE tar in Odin (for added safety, REMOVE sdcard) For DETAILED Odin instructions click HERE
- Reboot
- Go To Install Kingo (Google Kingo root 1.1.5 or 1.1.6 download) or Vroot (Google Vroot)
Flashed it via ODIN. I did not need to use the PIT file. This puts your phone back to pure stock. On first boot, I enabled USB Debugging, and "Install from unknown sources" I then re-rooted using VROOT. (I never had any luck with Kingo). I then replaced the Chinese SU app with Chainfires Super SU using this method:

Then I installed SafeStrap 3.65 Then I restored my backup in SafeStrap. This is where I'm at right now...so that I have a working phone until I can figure out the whole "install a custom 4.3 ROM" thing and try the process to get to 4.4 again. I've been flashing phones and devices since the old days of Windows CE and these new Samsung devices are a major PITA. I've been messing with my Note 3 and my Note 10.1 for the last week trying to achive a fast charge kernel, persistent SELInux permissive and disable knox
