Hey all, my wife dropped her phone in the loo (always love that word) and its dead. She kept it on for 3 hours after finding water in it and now it won't kick back on. Now thankfully the main water damage indicator under the battery has not tripped however are there any more internally? I have looked around a bit and cannot find anything regarding the matter so I'm hoping xda can help. Reason I ask is I'm just going to say it died and file a warranty claim ($5) vs claiming insurance ($175), but I don't want the warranty guys to find an internal sensor tripped and charge me the 500 something penalty for lying about the device's condition.

Thanks all!!

First off, congrats on being brave enough to come on the forum and admit to being about to defraud and lie to the phone company. That's pretty brave. Second, delete the post as soon as you can hehe.
Third, how can they say you have lied? Steam in a bathroom or sweat can trip water damage sensors. The company can simply charge you for a repair or the cost of sending the phone back to you if you refuse the repair.

Didn't have to end up doing anything, the note powered back on after being in rice for 48 hours.... So crisis averted.

However, just so this doesn't bite me later mod could you please close the thread?

if it doesnt work out with the warranty claim you could always accidentally trip inside your house and send the note flying out of the window on to the street where a passing car could run it over. :)
otherwise try kitty litter aka silica gel dessicant.

Yes, there are water sensors in the frame of the phone. You need to remove the back from the phone... requires only a little heat around the four corners as there is excess glue from the screen that isn't covered by the middle assembly.
