I just purchased a Korean version of the galaxy note 8. I understand that rooting can be done for the F/DS model, but I have not found any specific tutorials for the Korean version.

Ah, I missed that yours is an n model. Sorry I missed that. Rooting should still be the same though.
as of now, I have successfully installed TWRP, but when I got to wipe the phone, it gives me an error saying it failed to mount preload.
Don't worry, it doesn't matter. Are you on the latest TWRP?.
Ok. Well, I have the same error too, so don't worry about it. The preload partition isnt critical.
okay, but the problem is that it would let me finish the wipe, it just stops at preload.
should I try an advanced wipe and just uncheck preload?
Tried to do an advanced wipe, and just unselect preload, but then it gave me the same error "unable to mount... invalid argument" for every single option.
Long story short, I ended up bricking my phone and had to flash back to stock in odin.
What kind of note do you have? Im starting to think there's something fishy with the Korean model.
You are only bricked when twrp and system are down. Did you format data? Because you need to.

Yes, tried to format data. That is what lead to the preload error.
I think ill try again tonight when I get off work.
This time though, ill use a different version of odin and TWRP.
I have not rooted for a while, but the other day I tried a couple of roms, I too got the preload error, which I had not before, but everything worked fine though. I have the N950F, so definitely not an issue with your version.
