Does not exist, 1.1.8 is only EEA
@Phon3nX
Reading through this thread (and other threads in this forum), I see a lot of users facing issues updating their devices, especially with root. Even I have faced issues with updating and I try different methods to fix it, but there is still no single method that works 100% of the time. Sometimes local update method works, sometimes sideloading with ADB, etc.
It would be great if you could create a guide for updating their devices with root, possibly with all the different methods and troubleshooting methods. I do not mean unlocking or rooting, but updating NP1 by keeping root access. Sure, there are a lot of individual posts on this topic spread across this forum, as threads and as comments in threads like these, but I think it would be better to have it in one of the reserved sections in the original guide thread.
Thank you and kudos for the great job you do here.![]()
Thanks for the reply!Unfortunatelly there no 100% method working, restore boot file (from Magisk or fastboot) working only if Boot Timestamp / Signature is the same asking by OTA Update/Hotfix... If it's not the same = Error 20
It's for this reason it's better to :
- Always create yourself Magisk Patched Boot from the Stock Boot
Like that, signature come from original boot file and your Magisk will create a Patched file for your device/configuration and above all when you will apply/install this Patched file, Magisk will backup the original Boot.
If you flash directly a new Magisk Boot file from a user or this topic without boot/patch yourself this file with the "flash" command you can encounter bootloop but above all your Magisk doesn't create a backup from the original boot because Magisk has never patched this boot.
In some case the only solution is clean flash to the last Full Firmware available (so 1.1.7) and from this proper base update firmware and patch. I do that for the first Beta 1.5, i can't install this Beta from 1.1.7 even after restore boot. From now update work easily from OTA/Hotfix by restoring boot image.
PS : Topic updated with NOS 1.1.8 & NOS 1.5.1 Beta Hotfix links
Hello,
@Pho3nX post#1 is linking 1.5.1 and 1.5.1 hotfix to the same file; hotfix is smaller in size
nope, global got 1.1.8 too
I have the same issue, can't do anything to get over this error.I can't update to 1.5.1 hotfix, it gives me error 20, I've tried flashing the 1.5.1 stock boot.img, the 1.5.1 hotfix and the 1.5.0 too.
Magisk boot file 1.5.1 hotfix:
I get a bootlap when flashing this image. what should I do?
I can't update to 1.5.1 hotfix, it gives me error 20, I've tried flashing the 1.5.1 stock boot.img, the 1.5.1 hotfix and the 1.5.0 too.
I have the same issue, can't do anything to get over this error.
I have the same problem. help me please
No, I did not root. I was not able to downgrade to 1.1.7 Stock , I have a custom rom now. What's proper way to flash the 1.1.7 stock over custom rom ? I appreciate any tipsYou're rooted ? If yes restore images (boot) from Magisk and retry
If it doesn't work for you, or doesn't have "restore images" available in Magisk, you have only two possibilities :
1/ Clean flash (not just a Factory reset, storage must me erased) to the last Stable NOS firmware (so 1.1.7) > Update 1.5 > And update OTA, it will work perfectly with a proper base
2/ Simply wait a Full Firmware 1.5.X Beta (but not available for now), you will update without problem, Full firmware do not have the same signature restrictions than OTA update.
Hi, OTA will not arrive if you sidelaod the update manuallyHi Guys, when new OTA beta available would it be possible to install it via phone search for update...or still side load etc... required.?
is the system going to catch availability on NEW OTA? even if not part of beta program.
Thank YOU!

Downloading artifacts and installing the apk should be the right way to go, right? Because after installing apks from actions magisk manager app crashes.I don't have a Nothing phone but I have some suggestions:
Did anyone try using latest bleeding-edge build of Magisk from: https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/actions ?
If it still has issues I suggest opening an issue on the repo to notify topjohnwu.
No problem, i really just want a stable phone experience.Thank you for trying out the latest build. Can you open an issue on the repo reporting this crash problem?
Edit: someone already did so https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/issues/6780
getprop ro.product.name
getprop ro.product.system.name
.\fastboot boot Magisk_Patched_XXX.img
Thanks for the tip! This did the trick, and I'm now happily re-rooted on 1.1.3I was not even aware of the local system update wizard...
