Hm if the buttons degenerate with use it would be nice to have a cheap ebay supply available. I am also having the power button problem but as most noticed with ICS roms it has been partially fixed in software. Using the recovery menu is frustrating though since it apparently doesn't apply key-press filter.

Try the new 4EXT touch, then you don't have to use your power button in recovery.

Contacted HTC UK support the other day. Reported my squeaky back cover and dodgy power button.

They're sending a replacement back cover out free of charge. Hope it fixes the squeaky-ness above all as it's really irritating.

Just thought I'd add that I emailed HTC UK support via the contact form on the website - they got back to me within a few hours requesting my address so they could post me a new back cover, no mention of sending mine back or anything.
Keeping my fingers crossed that this actually fixes the problem for me, and more so that it's a revised version of the casing which won't break again within a few months!

You're right (Although I do not know what country you are in, so I will list a few larger ones; if you do not find the number you need here, or want to see if there is a closer office, go to http://www.htc.com/europe/contact/ and scroll down 'til you see the section that says "Customer Service", click on the button that says "Contact Us"; then when the new window pops up, click on the "Call Us" tab and choose your country from the drop down menu). I probably should have put this in my post originally... (And have now added the following in my original post):

HTC United Kingdom: 08458900079 - Mon - Fri 8:00 am - 6:00 pm

HTC Global Warranty Service: 44 1279 206906 - (Mon - Fri) 9:00 am - 12 pm (Sat)

HTC Customer Service Worldwide: 886-3-3753252

HTC Customer Service Canada: 866-449-8358

HTC Customer Service Australia: 1300-482-482 - (Mon - Sun) 8:00am - 8:00pm AEST

Hope that helps!

Awesome awesome awesome! Thank you very much :D

Received my new cover today.

I compared it to the old one and looks pretty identical apart from the new one having extra little grey squares that look like the grounding point.

The part numbers are identical. The manufacture date on the new one is actually older that the older than the old one though.

Oh well. Brand new case whether it fixes the problems or not.

can you post pictures of those grey squares? Any squeaking? I need to get mine replaced. I had one replaced at T-mobile and it was fine on day one. Then the next day creaking/squeaking came back. I will call them tomorrow.

Ya, I got home from work one day and noticed my volume rockerwas missing. I called HTC and they were very helpful and offered the different ways to replacethe back. No muss; no fuss.

Seems they're not so nice any more. My volume rocker has fallen off but they want me to send my phone in for examination. Luckily though, I do have the broken rocker, and my gel case keeps it in place, so everything still works and I don't have to go without my phone for ages. This part of their email response really got my goat:

HTC Tech Support said:
Secondly our process was changed in the middle of march, following an investigation in which it was determined that there is not a manufacturing defect affecting ANY of our phone models.
Arrogant bastards. I made sure to point out how well the One S micro arc oxidisation coating is holding up for people :D

Remember, the responsibility for repairing your phone lies with the retailer you bought it from, not HTC, so if HTC refuse to repair it, quote your statutory rights to the retailer :)

I can confirm what Y2kgsxr750 posted... My volume rocker fell out a few days ago and I called HTC yesterday. They asked for my IMEI, email address, phone number, and home address. They asked when I bought the phone which is gonna be a year ago this upcoming Saturday but didn't require proof so I guess I didn't need to take the time to get that from TMo. They didn't ask for a credit card number, and just asked that I discard the old cover in an environmentally responsible manner.

Out of warranty phone?

This had just happened to me last week! I have two HTC Sensations, but they're both out of warranty. One of my phone's volume button has disappeared. I'm just curious if HTC will honor this recall for phones that are out of warranty?

Oh, in case I'm not covered under the recall, has anyone attempted to replace the volume button with the ones for sale on Ebay? I'm tempted to purchase a few (if it works well) to keep on hand in case this happens again. Thanks.!

My button broke in 2 and I haven't found the other piece. My phone is out of warranty and I bought it on eBay. The guy at HTC was really nice. I couldn't read the number and had to borrow my husband's reading glasses. I told him he had witnessed a woman officially becoming old. We had a good laugh.

At first he told me the policy and then came back and said I didn't need to send the old one back. Maybe he felt bad for me. Then he asked if I could verify that I'm over 18. I reminded him that I had just proven it by needing reading glasses.

Until it gets here I'm going to try to borrow hubby's back cover because he almost never uses his phone. I've installed 4ext so I shouldn't be using the button so much.
