Try settings - security & privacy - face unlock - disable smart lock screen notifications

Settings, app and notifications, notifications manager and 3 dots upper right, you'll find settings for notifications in lock screen

Many thanks for you both. But still notification contents are hidden I am stupidly missing something. I followed both your advice.

following on from this, I disabled face unlock and contents are now visible, I think its a feature if face id is on and the phone is trying to protect the content if somebody else pick up the phone. pretty nice feature. :good::good:
