Notion Ink Apps on NOOKcolor [Working]

After some time lurking through the Galaxy Tab Forums I saw that some of the Notion Ink apps were ported to the GTab then tested and worked on the Galaxy Tab. I figured I would download the other apps and give them a try on our beloved NOOKcolor.

The first app I tested was the Mail'd App and viola, it worked. I set up my GMail account and it's been running great.

I tried the Calendar and Calculator apps with no luck; I get a parsing error notification. Additionally I was hoping that the QuickOffice HD would install but that didn't work either.

Members in the Galaxy Tab forum noted that the browser worked but need to make a few changes in /system -- see below [thanks Boushh]

With the browser apk, you must first use root explorer and navigate to /system/app and rename your default Browser.apk to Browswer.apk.bak and then it will install. To go back to the stock modified samsung browser just rename Browser.apk.bak to Browser.apk.

Edit- I got mail'd working, just install THIS APK it's really sick!
I have not yet tested the Browser, Sniffer, Keyboard, or Canvas applications. Please do so at your own risk. I will attach the files.

All credit goes to Gojimi for porting these to the Viewsonic GTab and Boushh in the Galaxy Tab forums for making the email .apk. All I did was test them out.

Good Luck and please report back with any feedback on apps that work/workarounds to get them working.

Installed Mail'd. Outgoing mail works fine but when trying to sync/receive I get a network unreachable error (standard Gmail is working fine in both directions). I tried changing the incoming server settings, but my changes will not save and revert back every time i leave the screen.

Email crashes. And most of these apps are froyo apps.

Nook Color via Xda Ap
Some of them are but the Mail'd app works on Eclair.

I'm getting a similar issue when trying to use a non-Gmail account. I'll see if I can sync any other accounts and see what happens.

it seems like when i try to use the back button via softkeys, the mail app crashes. anyone else have this problem?
I use Button Savior and though it doesn't crash, the back button is unresponsive.

UPDATE: I was able to install Quick Office HD. You must uninstall Quick Office (Barnes & Noble Version) via Titanium Backup then go ahead and install the Notion Ink Quick Office HD and you should be good to go. It works very nice too, optimized for tablets like the Mail'd app.

Have not had a chance to test it too extensively, but canvas appears to install and run just fine on froyo. Really nice drawing app.

Most of these apps if not all should work on Froyo. I managed to install Canvas on Eclair but even after a wipe via Titanium it would not open up.

Sent from my Nexus One via the XDA App

I got Mail'd set up and working with my Gmail account, it crashes whenever I try to read an email though, and I can't get it setup with my schools exchange account(we go through outlook.com and I can't figure out the correct settings)

I also got QuickOffice HD working and it is quite nice.

Installed quickoffice and mail'd.

Only issue I see so far is you lose the status bar so you lose the menu button, and button savior does not work.

Oh, that and Notion appears to think you spell syncing like this..."synching".

sadly it looks like mail'd is based off the k9 framework and uses webdav instead of ActiveSync for exchange. This means no push email for anything other than IMAP idle. Too bad. I was excited for a second there...
