I'm also getting mixed answers, both in-store and online, but I'm not going to hold my breath until I get an email saying my pre-order has shipped. One gentleman at my local Corporate store mentioned that his information shows that pre-orders are due to start shipping out at the latest BY the 27th, not necessarily ON the 27th. He stated "The 27th is the latest date when all pre-orders should be shipped out. Those that pre-ordered early may get their devices before the 27th. Those that ordered later will have theirs shipped before, or at the latest on the 27th." I then spoke with another associate who mentioned she had heard that the phone may start shipping around the 15th, but that was just what she overheard, not what she read anywhere on any Verizon paperwork.

I cant wait for mine to be shipped. I played with one in Sprint store yesterday, but had to pull myself away.

Yeah, i went to Best Buy and was like, holy *** this is amazing. I loved it. I could use it with one hand and everything.
It was right next to a GS3 and I was like....That's way too small!

I prefer the physical home button, but I know I am in the minority.
Until a manufacturer releases a phone with a minimal bottom bezel that doesn't have enough room for physical or capacitive buttons, I'm right there with you. Every phone released so far with on-screen buttons, including the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 4, have had a large enough bezel (or chin in the case of something like the RAZR M) for buttons.

On-screen buttons take up approximately 0.3" of the screen real estate in 9 out of 10 functions. So, if there's going to be a bottom bezel regardless (as there has been on every device so far), I'd rather have physical or capacitive buttons and retain full use of the screen real estate. Once a phone is released with virtually no bottom bezel, I'll be 100% on board with on-screen buttons.

I wonder if this is why it is taking so long to release. I am curious how this bloatware is going to work out.

As has been discussed several times in this thread, the release of the Note 2 has been delayed in order for Verizon to give the DNA the spotlight. They want to give the release and marketing edge to the exclusive DNA since it occupies the same large screen category as the Note 2.

I hate that verizon is gonna release the HTC DNA First before the Note2.
It would seem that since the note2 has been out that it would come first, but its coming at least just later

Yep, that is the most likely reason.

There have been many potential reasons brought up in this thread. Just contributing another.

I hate the sensitivity of the buttons too. My friend has a phone with on screen buttons and he always taps it and it brings him out of whatever app he was in.

I hear what u'r saying. I just hate the fact that I actually have to press something in, instead of just rubbing my thumb on it. Seems like it will slow me down. After all the recent DNA news, I'm getting the Note2 no doubt, so I'll have to learn to deal.

I'd definitely prefer a capacitive home button like the back and menu buttons that are on the Note 2. That would let you just barely touch your fingers on it just like the on-screen buttons. But I deal just fine with the physical home button on the S3, so it doesn't bother me all that much.

I hate on screen buttons with a passion. When I went to Verizon to compare the the Droid razor maxx hd with the Galaxy S 3 the droid screen looked almost an inch smaller because of the on screen buttons. on screen buttons are either there permanently, which is ugly, or you have to do extra pushes on the screen everytime you want to pull them up, a pain in the real. Someone asked SCrosler about getting those stupid onscreen buttons for one of his ROMs and he had me cracking up when he said something to the effect that he didn't plan on incorporating any of the new screen wasting technology.

The only thing I really like about the on screen on the Gnex are that you can customize the images into anything you want. However, after playing with the Note 2, I prefer the usable screen space over on screen buttons.

Ok ok ur right, I don't necessarily want them to be part of the screen. Why cant the home button be just like the back button and menu button. That is all I ask for. :)

My rep told me it will ship 27th and be in stores on the 15th. Chances are HTC signed an exclusivity agreement with Verizon for about a week.
I don't think this is accurate. Probably will ship 27th and be in stores sometime between then and the 29th. I don't think they signed an exclusive agreement for 8 business days. I think the reason behind this as obviously being a proprietary phone they may or may not have more vested in it and just want the sales from bf and it was probably a strategic decision from vzw, not htc

Same here, they made the RAZR HD display sound like a great improvement being 4.6" over the 4.3" Thunderbolt screen, but when you factor in the almost-permanent on screen buttons, the display was the same size. I much prefer capacitive buttons.
