so is this just latest factory images with a pre patched magisk boot.img?
Yes "NVIDIA SHIELD TV 2017 Developer Only OS Image 7.1.0 2018/09/26 " and the patched boot.img that will install with the flash-all.bat. Also has the latest magisk.apk

Hi there. I guess I missed this. Just got my new 16gb shield. Trying to root but keep getting corruption messages. On latest 7.1 experience.
Could you please upload your image over more time?
I'm really stuck.
Many thanks!

Let me know if you need help.
Brilliant. So just to confirm a couple of things....
I don't need to do anything with the other files? Orig boot and magisk apk? Just flash all bat with the files in the folder.
Also, I don't update magisk once installed?
Finally, this will erase all my current apps etc....

Many thanks again!

If you are unlocked already it shouldn't mess with data (at least mine didn't as i have ran this script a few times). i am assuming you have the drivers, a to a cable, and all that setup already.

You might have to put the fastboot files into the directory depending on your PC setup. I have system wide fastboot. You will have to install the magisk apk. Magisk is installed in boot img, the apk manages root access though it.

On a side note, be patient, the flash-all bat takes about 30 minutes if i remember right......

Ok, sounds good. And this won't mess with already installed supersu?
And how about updating magisk to latest version?

Sorry for all the questions! It took me a whole day to get supersu to install correctly!!

I dont know how it will react to supersu. I dont use supersu for root management, i use magisk. This dev img is just one for magisk. The Magisk was updated to the latest when i added it last weekend and im not blocking updates so it should be fine.

You should only have one root management app. I prefer magisk. In summary i have no idea how it will work if you try to use both SuperSU and Magisk, but i dont understand why have both. I am a novice at this, so maybe i dont get it...

I just meant, will it overwrite the supersu root that's already on there. I don't want conflicting issues.

Thanks again. I'll give it a go!

Magisk is a different route of access to root (systemless) i believe. I dont think it will have an affect. Good luck, i hope this helps. This worked for my root and installing xposed, these were all the files i needed. i dot think magisk is hiding root though, but i havent messed with that lately.

Hi everyone, that is what i did to get root with magisk and everything went fine in 10 minutes.1) update nvidia to latest firmware. 2)Downloaded the latest recovery image stock. 3) extract the boot image and put it to my phone which is rooted with magisk. 4) go to magisk, install, update boot image and then to the boot image i extracted. 5) unlocked nvidia bootloader. Flashed the boot image. I'm rooted with magisk you have just to sideload magisk manager or install it from aptoide.

Hey, so maybe i'm being a tad dense here, but to install this, I'd unzip to my fastboot directory, run the flash-all.bat in the folder and wait for that to finish, and then do....what(?) with the patched_boot image and magisk.apk??

edit: Upon running the .bat and it rebooting the system, my shield now gets stuck at the unlocked bootloader screen, won't even go to the Nvidia logo...any ideas how to fix this? :(

Edit edit: After some panicking, I managed to get it all working again. going in and clearing the cache and reinstalling did the trick, now I know for next time!

Hi guys,

I just got my shield tv couple weeks ago and I want to clear few things up, I did read all the posts and threads I'm just making sure :)
all I need are sdk tools, shield family USB drivers 2018, unlocking bootloader ---> erasing everything, and nv-recovery-image-shield-atv-7.0.2-dev_rooted.zip -----> flash-all.bat

don't need to worry about flashing twrp and then flashing nv-recovery-image-shield-atv-7.1.0-dev_rooted.zip first correct ?

I'm on 8.0.0 oreo, nvidia 7.1.0, Model: P2897 nvidia shield tv 16gb (just started charging controller)

Thanks in advance and sorry for hijacking this thread didn't think it's necessary to start a new one

Merry Christmas !
