Nvidia Tegra Note 7 [APX] Images

Nvidia APX 4.4.3 / 4.4.2-2.5 Images (P1640 Devices Only)​

Please do not contact me via E-mail asking for assistance. My time is limited as it is. All info required to repair your tablet is in this OP post so please read it carefully!!

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

Due to the type of files in these images, there can be issues as a result of using these files on another brand.
This can lead to a totally dead device, there for this is classed as high risk.

Due to the high risk nature Myself or XDA or even Nvidia can not be held responsible for any issues that result in damaged hardware, your house burning down or the sweat coming from your hands as you try to unbrick your device!!


With that out the way, the images that are linked into this thread are for Unbricking your device if you are stuck in a mode called APX Mode, what this images are not for is to restore to stock from a custom rom or recovery.

You will need to install the APX Driver which works on Windows XP to Windows 8.1 however you will need to run Windows 64bit with Driver enforcement off prior to trying to install the Driver as these drivers are Unsigned, if your running a 32bit OS you do not need to mess around as much.

However Windows 64 bit users i have made a command script to disable and enable driver enforcement without having to here there every where, They are included in the APX Unsigned Driver.zip

To be open on the .cmd files here are their contents

Disable Driver Enforcement.cmd

bcdedit -set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING ON

Restore Driver Enforcement.cmd

bcdedit -set loadoptions ENABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING OFF

Make sure when running any of these .cmd files above that you do so as Administrator else it will not work and a reboot will be needed after each one. So basically you run Disable Driver Enforcement.cmd and reboot, then install the apx drivers, then run Restore Driver Enforcement.cmd and finally reboot for the last time.

*If your device doesn't flash in APX because of your Serial on the device being incorrect or you for some reason had tried a APX flash run and it failed please extract these files and over-write the file(s) requested.

Once this is done open the NCT_GPT.txt file and only adjust the following line:

<name:serial_number; idx:0; tag:0x80; data:TEGRANOTEGP00A123456>

So in my case

<name:serial_number; idx:0; tag:0x80; data:0521300014999> (Not my Serial but you should get the jest)

Then save the file

Now edit flash_signed.cfg and replace the line #filename=nct_gp.txt to filename=nct_gp.txt and save that file. You can then run the bat file to flash the device with serial number correction.

Failure to change the serial number line prior to running flash_signed._forced.bat will result in your serial being TEGRANOTEGP00A123456 which will then be unable to receive any OTA's from Nvidia or Issues with Google Services. I suggest using the Serial Number from the Box.


Last but not least if you have been able to use the 4.3 Advent APX Images before you can also use the 4.4.2-2.5 APX Image as it saves the OTA Update trip after booting up to get to the 2.5 OTA Update.

This Does work on the Following Devices:

*Advent TegraNote 7 (P1640)
*EVGA (P1640)
*XOLO (P1640)
*HomeCare (P1640)

This Doesn't Work on the Following Devices:

*CHERRY MOBILE (P1988)

Hi i have tegra note 7 but p1988w model how i can unbrick coz its stay on apx mode.

As far as i am aware there is no APX image for the P1988's the only reasons there was for the P1640 was because Advent release the files. However Advent hasn't done a P1988 version.

no response using flash forced.bat

i dunno what i did wrong running 64-bit windows with amd processor installes apx drivers properly it shows nvidia boot-recovery. i run flash forced.bat it stuck at line
chip uid from BR is: 0x600000015c4110c90c0000006. anyone knows how to make this right sir hackrixx

What brand is the TN7 if its HP then it will not work. If its not what caused the brick in the first place.

No sie hacktrix can u elaborate coz i have the supported model yet i cmd program is stuck. Cant flash back to stock. I jus dwnloaded the lollipop zip and booted to recovery stock and glashed it. Successful flashing then reboot. And then boom bootlooped

What model is your tegra note I.e what brand. As its sound like wrong firmware flashed to start with. Can you access to fastboot at all or did it just go directly to apx mode.

I cant boot to fastboot anymore.. model is tegra note 7 distributed by cherry mobile wifi only model here in philippines. P1640. I dont know what to do

Well have you tried a different cable, a usb 2.0 socket? Etc


Edit: if you still have the box check it as i am pretty sure Cherry Mobile Wifi is a P1988 model and not a P1640.

Yep Cherry Mobile version is a P1988. Your going to need to talk to either nVidia or Cherry mobile for the apx images bud.

Hello.. Bricked Tegra Note 7. Help If possible

Hello. I bricked my tehra note 7 and i tried to recover through your instructions.
I entered apx mode, installed drivers and then run flash signed. The cmd opens but then nothing follows. No message no anything.
I could use some help if possible.

sir, same as mine.. i just flashed my cm tegra note7 to kitkat. successfull also, but unable to boot up. no screen display and detected by my laptop as apx only. until now i dont know how to fix this.

Which brand do you have?

Edit just noticed the CM bit if i am right your talking about a Cherry Mobile P1988 varient which isn't supported via this APX image set. So please do not use it. Flashing any P1640 images such as Fastboot will always force your tablet into APX as its the incorrect firmware.

You'll need to contact Cherry Mobile for the APX image or to issue a RMA.

I have the file somewhere in my drive. However your going to need root to change it over. Or you could use the nvidia version which has nvidia branding

It would be nice if you would pull the file out. I already rooted my device with iRoot.

I have only been able to find Advent and Xolo bootanimations on my hard drives and of course the nvidia one and thats it.
