Na do not flash them unless your Tegra not is a p1988w or p1988 else it will brick brick. The latest image for P1640 which if you have the first Tegra Note from either EVGA zotac advent or Xolo then its only the Tegra Note 7 GMS image 2.5 that will work which is what my APX images are.

Thanks.. Point taken..Ya I was bit confused in first place thinking about p1988w or p1988 .. As it didn't resemble the model number.
But the problem with this un-bricking technique is that it won't get updated to lollipop and or if Nvidia plans MM  (just hoping)..
My version was of XOLO and was running pretty well with lollipop.. So was thinking if somehow upgrading to lolipop was possible.. Anyways thanks a ton for this... At least my tab is no more bricked..
Cheers !

Once you flash the APX image its manual updates of OTA's.

The APX images break the security certs on the LBH partition and will always come back as having the latest version.

So just do

1) Flash APX
2) Boot OS make sure its working
3) Reboot into recovery
4) Do a Factory Reset
5) Sideload the tegra_note_7_system_update_3.0__5.1.zip via ADB or place on SDcard and flash it.
6) Let it boot into OS again
7) Skip everything you can and then reset the Device to factory one more time

This will insure it works flawlessly without issues i have asked nVidia about the OTA 3 images for the P1640 but still waiting a reply from them.

The above is how i do my Tegra note 7 when i mess about and brick it.

There has been people posting the images from P1988/P1988W as P1640 and people have bricked their P1640 TN7's, they then ask for my help to recover them and not all of them come back to working state after.

I bricked my Cherry Mobile Tegra Note 7 P1640 Android 4.4.2 yesterday. This is what happened;

1. I hard reset my tablet and used Super Tool 2.0 to downgrade my tablet.
2. Now that my tablet is downgraded, I updated through OTA 2.1. When my tablet restarted and tried to install the update, it showed system error.
3. I flashed back using Super Tool 2.5 and when I tried to reboot, my tablet shut down and power isn't working anymore.
4. My PC detected my device as APX so I downloaded the drivers, installed it and tried the nvflash procedures.
5. If I run the flash_signed.bat, it only shows a blinking cursor screen. When I use the forced bat file, I'm stuck at the "chip uid from br" line.
6. My tablet doesn't power up. It can't go to recovery mode either. Only when I connect it to my laptop does it get recognized as an APX device. The driver is Nvidia USB Boot-recovery driver for Mobile Devices.

I've tried other cables but it didn't solved the problem.
I also tried restarting my laptop and running the program again (WIN7 Ultimate 32-bit) hoping that it may solve the problem but it did't work.
I also tried changing the compatibilities of the bat files but that didn't work.

I've been using Supertools with not much problem until yesterday when I tried to reflash on a failed OTA update.

I'm running out of options. Can anyone help?

Thanks.
Has anyone tried going to cherry mobile service center for a firmware repair? I got mine bricked too while downgrading using the nvidia official firmware release. My TN7 won't power on and when I try to plug it to my laptop it goes automatically to APX.

@choi610 @marfsalv Are you guys sure your Cherry mobile TN7 is not a P1988 version. As looking at the info its classed as a TN7C/TN7CW which is P1988 (LTE) P1988W (WiFi). Which i don't have the firmware with blob etc to even make a APX image set from. So the only way is to try and contact Cherry Mobile for a APX image set. Else i am afraid your TN7 is totally bricked.

See from what i can gather the Firmware from a P1640 for example the system boot recovery will work on P1988 however OTA updates will have a blob (bootloader file) which gets pushed to the TN7 which will then brick the device.

Now as the bootloader on the P1988 will be totally different in both signature as well as the dtb partition without a P1988 APX image set you can't flash it. Thats why its sticking on the chip uid from br line as its not tallying up with the device your trying to apx flash. I can't help you on that and in the OP it does clearly state in RED not to use on Cherry Mobile as the device is a P1988 variant .

Yes it's a P1988 device based on the product number from the box. I hope there will be an APX image available soon. :(

Ok my mess up with the files. Going to edit the OP about it.

Simply open the flash_signed.cfg file with notepad and look for the following line

#filename=nct_gp.txt

then change it to

filename=nct_gp.txt

Then save the file and force your tablet back into APX mode (Power with Vol UP and Vol Down press at the same time for 10 seconds without cable plugged in. *Tablet must be powered down first*)

Thanks, working great now, weird ting the 4.4.2 image started powering down right as it booted up (couldn't get to set up the device) but flashing 5.1 right after (as well as twrp recovery and shaky kernel) and it booted just fine and play store is functioning normally!
