So i changed my carrier from congstar (t-mobile) to vodafone germany... Still the same issue.... Again:

In spain and france via Roaming i had no issues at all... But if i recall correctly: i have always been on LTE in spain and no switching to other bands.

Sony forums: no one is responding :(

Btw: is it the dual-sim version only or are you having issues with the single-sim version as well?
I have the dual-sim :(

Yep, Sony's disinterest has prompted me to switch to a Pixel 3, even if the problem occurred very rarely in my case. (That and the sheer temptation of it.)

I badly miss the Sony's size and in-hand feel - but a smoother experience [Pie has been occasionally laggy on the XZ2c for me, worse than on my retired XZ1c], the camera's reliability, and the peace of mind that I can always receive a phone call compensate for that.

I have the dual sim too.

Thanks for the input.

I've just ordered a s9, since there is no progress visible at all...
It is really a bummer that sony cares so less about stuff like customers' service :(

I wrote an email to the Sony service because the bluetooth music became crappy on my thinkpad T440p Bluetooth version.
They answered me and fixed it on the next no the update.
Truth be told, I am not sure Sony is worse than other major manufacturers in this respect (one exception perhaps is OnePlus). It's just that this has stayed 'unfixed' (although in my experience it somewhat improved in time) for so long. Time to move on - with substantial regrets, in my case.

(I would have reverted to the XZ1c, the last true flagship compact, but I have a hard time dealing with the shape -esp. the many corners piercing through my jeans' pockets -, the absence of night light [which they explicitly abandoned] and workarounds, and the very average camera.)

Even though i bought a S9, i have sent my xz2c to the sony service and today i got my device back..

So first of all: i described the flaws i had plus my rarely wifi drops.... So they sent it back and repaired it "according to the description of errors". Obviously they have changed the PCB which also led to a new/different IMEI than before... So now i'm testing and see how that works :)

Keep your fingers crossed!

Edit: no luck... Still the same f*.... Issue....

Sorry to heart that. It's probably either a design flaw or a software problem that they cannot get to the bottom of. Pretty disappointing...
Yeah, it really is... But obviously it is not that severe because otherwise more people would complain about it.

I'm giving it a last chance by ordering the single-sim version and hoping for a different result... It not, well, then it will be the S9 (which is also a bit disappointing, but that's another story)

Such bugs most people doesn't have are very weird.

If you want you can flash my omnirom custom ROM.
It is stable.
We just miss VoLTE (should come later after Q 4.14 became stable enough)
And a camera upgrade (comes with the Q 4.14 development)

It isn't based on the sony stock rom, it is based on the Sony Open Devices Project
Most parts are self developed by SODP, so the changes are high that this issue won't occur there.
But in fact I never heard about this issue except in this thread. :)

These are compiled single sim versions which get switched to dual sim with a patch flashed in twrp. :)
(My phone is dual sim)
Wonderful!
My xz2c (single) should arrive tuesday/wednesday... I'll have a look at stock first to see if "my" error still occurs and then i'll give your rom a go!
Thanks a lot!

So, to give you a heads up:

I had no issues with the XZ2compact (single-sim) at all!! It seems as if the dual sim and single sim differ in a way when it comes to the modem.

So if you want to keep this good phone, go single sim!

I have a similar issue with my single-sim phone, except it's not occasional but all the time that I can't make or receive calls. If I try to call it'll disconnect after a short while without ever ringing. Forcing LTE-only makes it disconnect immediately after hitting dial. Data and text work fine.
Tried with VoLTE on/off, wifi on/off, data on/off, flashing Android M/P/Q, but no luck. I've confirmed it's not the SIM. Seems like a hardware problem? I'm at a loss.
