Hey all. Currently I have the Note 3. I am looking to upgrade and am strongly considering the LG V10 since its kept the removable battery, sd storage, and very good specs. Do you guys think there will be a root available for it in the near future? Thanks
See if you can get one thats running lolliepop, but 2 people are working on gaining the tot by technical means and by talking to lg, as i am to. What has changed is that android 6.0 has blocked flashing tots. Which in 5.0 on the v10, flashing a modded tot was how they rooted it. But with 6.0, that method is not available. But if you can get a v10 h900 with 5.0 or 5.1, then you can root it but their wont be a modified version of 6.0 for you to use since the tot hasnt been released or obtained yet. But some people are very close.

Is there anyway I can extract some files from the AT&T Variant in order to force the ability to OEM unlock on this model? It's so curious to me that one can not even get the phone to fast boot. Would that be in build.prop? Maybe I should dump and review the entire system partition, though I'm wondering if it's a feature of the AT&T Firmware. If that's the case, I'm also thinking maybe something like JD-GUI can help look into the code to find where it's disabled.

I am sorry but I am not the most knowledgeable about this subject (AT&T) as I live in the UK, but what little I could find might help you.

You're awesome. Thank you for this. Hopefully it'll help :D

Ok I checked this out. For whatever reason, the AT&T variant will not go into fastboot. I'm not sure why, but suspect it's something that they modified to prevent modification on the device. I'm not giving up though. I'll see if I can dump the system image and comb through it all in my spare time.

POSTMAN....one of life's best qualities in a person is PERSISTENCE. This V10 can't beat us, right? That's the spirit of this forum and website. It's an awesome phone, but it deserves root, it needs root.
I thank you

So i figured out how to get past the V10 security to even begin unlocking the bootloader and rooting it. But, theres a catch. It requires a cell intercepter. And not one for just calls. OTA updates are thr only things allowed past all the security. At&t themselvs said they couldnt fix mine because they cant flash anything. But, with an intercepter, we could copy an android update, aswel as upload a modified rom to the phone, though, it would take alot of verifications to implement to get the v10 to think its an official update. But the good news is, this kind of thing has been done before, it was a hack for a while but for some reason died out. But, there it is, our trojan horse, the OTA update service. So some one figure it out.

Oh ya, another thing i thought of. Since we can choose what apn to use, cant we direct our phones to a particular server that could send modified updates to our V10s?

Sounds like a big project. So we'd need an "update server" that could deliver OTAs.... wonder if the Viper dudes would be able to help with that piece since they have a way to push OTAs. That however would have to be done after (and if) a way can be found out on how to do this. Awesome work finding this out!

Hey all! Good news! A 9-year-old bug called the "Dirty Cow" exploit still exists in the Linux/Android kernel can easily grant root on any Android phone!!! See the video below.

http://www.xda-developers.com/9-yea...-dirty-cow-can-root-every-version-of-android/

So there's another bug to exploit for root and even possibly unlocking the bootloader! The bug has been fixed recently in Linux but hasn't been rolled into Android yet. If anyone can get this working on my AT&T LG V10 (running Marshmallow) I'll give a reward of $50! Plus you'll be my hero! ;) Now get crackin!

yes i will try, do you have a link? i can extract any thing lol, just get me the link to the file and ill have it cracked extracted
You won't be able to root using Dirty Cow anymore. AT&T (as well as others) have patched the Linux kernel. But... in the off chance you're talking about somehow breaking the TOT, check out the KDZ thread. Good luck; you'll need it for repackaging the KDZ if you can manage to put root into it.

I just had to send my V10 back to LG for repair. Not sure how or why it happened, but I got the bootloop of death. I was scrolling Facebook and my phone simply shut down and attempted to restart. LG's repair notes stated that they replaced the motherboard because the phone was not charging. I know for a fact it was charging, because before I sent it out it was on the charger. That was the only thing that DID work. I have seen many posts about this, though. Hardware failure, and LG and ATT both neglect that it's an issue. ATT refused to replace the device, stating they had no reports of random failure for my model (BULL****)

Anyways, I've given up hope on root for H900 a long time ago. Anybody else that still believes there's a possibility should open their eyes and move on. I will have this phone paid off in August, so that will officially mark the end of me purchasing carrier phones. I suggest the same for anyone else that wants to have root.
