I'm trying to flash my Galaxy SL i9003 with XXKPQ, but ODIN gives me this error:

<OSM> I9003XXKPQ_I9003XXKPQ_I9003SERKPQ_HOME.tar.md5 is valid.
<OSM> Checking MD5 finished Sucessfully..
<OSM> Leave CS..
<ID:0/006> Odin v.3 engine (ID:6)..
<ID:0/006> File analysis..
<ID:0/006> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/006> Initialzation..
<ID:0/006> Set PIT file..
<ID:0/006> DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET!!
<ID:0/006> Can't open the specified file. (Line: 1815)
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)

And when I try to flash DDLF2 rom it gives me the same error.

I've tried flashing with Odin 1.82, 1.83 and 1.85 all the same.

And sometimes it gets stuck on setup connection forever.

I've tried in different usb ports, restarted PC, I've tried restarting phone many times, nothing seems to work.

Please help

Try running it as administration. The anti virus may be affecting it too. Also, trying another pc or cable may help.

But, Will win 8 really matter?

Here's a history of my problem: Before flashing my phone with XXKPQ, I had XXKPM and I flashed a CF-ROOT for XXKPM successfully onto my phone using ODIN on WIN 8.

turn off kies, firewall, antivirus, then try redownloading the files to make sure they are not damaged. you can also try it on win7,

Yes Win 8 has problem. The .net framework that every app use to run is in beta and not implemented in apps yet.
The best os for flashing is xp and 7(with run as admin).

In 8 try to put fw in c:\ root along with odin. Rename fw so that no spaces exist in filename. If that too don't work, use a friends sys with 7.

Tried flashing in Windows XP VirtualBox

So I downloaded VirtualBox and Windows XP and tried flashing there.

1) I have no antivirus
2) Samsung USB Drivers installed.
3) Ran Odin as admin

It is giving me the EXACT same error. :(

And I tried flashing DDLF2, XXKPN, XXKPQ, same error!!!
So confused. :(
Should I go to the service center?

Or is virtualbox the problem?
I'll try flashing on friends win 7 tomorrow, Last try!!! :(

Win8 is not the problem. I have used odin successfully in Win8.
But try using Heimdall. It is easy. I use it nowadays. Stopped using odin.

Have you tried another USB cable?

Solved. Yay :d

Okay, I'm not sure what worked.

But I flashed XXKPE in my friends computer.

Either XXKPE was the right thing to do or something was wrong with my computer.

But anyway, now I'm on DDLF2. :) :)

...I'll give ICS a try later. (Hope my phone will survive that. :p )

Thanks a Million to everyone who supported and helped. Thanks a LOT!!! XDA Forums is amazing. Thank you. :) :)

I know this is an old thread but I came across it while trying to fix the same problem when going back to stock to resolve some issues.

I was getting this error because I was also using the repartition checkmark. I left repartition unchecked and it went through without an issue.

Hope that helps someone if they end up in this thread.

+1 here!
removed the "re-partition" flag and it worked with no problems. (Note 3 N9005 in my case - got here via google).
