Odin fails after Setup Connection

Hello,

while flashing my note 8 I suddenly encountered a problem. I was flashing a different stock rom to try and repair something. But now I suddenly can't flash anything anymore.
Odin always goes to setup connection and then fails instantly. No matter what I try to flash. It worked before so I'm really confused why that is all of a sudden.

Can anybody help me?
Thanks

What Rom you tried to install? Oreo firmware? Which Odin version you using? For newer firmware you need Odin v3.13.1 (Exynos devices)

It was an android 7.1.1 stock rom for sm-n9500.
I'm using the newest version of odin.
Then maybe you tried to flash an older firmware version. The Bootloader isn't downgrade compatible. Post a screenshot like requested

I ran into this same issue. Nothing at all would flash. Odin would hang at starting connection, then fail.

The fix is simply to power the phone down, then try again. Selecting the power off option from the maintenance screen is sufficient. Removing the USB cable wasn't necessary for me.

I'm guessing this isn't a common issue, based on the number of people with the same problem, but since there was no solution, I'm posting one despite the thread's staleness.
