FAIL! in Odin

This version, as well as the no-wipe version give me a FAIL! when it gets up to the system.img ext4 part. In the upper right corner of the Download Mode screen I see the following:

ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SCH-I545
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
KNOX KERNAL LOCK: 0X0
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0X0
CSD-CONFIG-LSB: 0X30
WRITE PROTECTION: ENABLE
eMMC BURST MODE enable
START [224,1440]
BAR [240,1440]

Any ideas? Is this a KNOX issue?

No not at all. I was able to reflash VRUMJ7 using Odin by unchecking "Auto Restart". With it checked it kept failing on the hidden.img partition.
Thank you, unchecking it got it to work for me!!! :cyclops: Also, before flashing i didnt boot into download mode, I left it in emergency mode.. it worked just fine!

Complete wipe removed unlocked icon for me.

When you say that you did a "complete wipe" which removed the unlocked icon for you, what exactly did you do to perform the complete wipe? Would you be so kind as to walk me through the process that you completed, so that I may have the same luck that you have had and get rid of this lock icon on boot.

Here are the steps that I tried:

-I performed the steps correctly with Odin 3.09 and used AP to flash the download, and I selected nand erase just to make sure it was wiped, and yet I still have the unlocked icon.

-Then, I rebooted into recovery, and wiped data/cache 3 times just to make sure it was wiped, and yet I still have the darn unlocked icon.

-Then I booted into the phone, and performed a factory reset using the on board menus, and I still no luck, the icon is still present.

Thank you for your time, and more importantly, Thank you for your service!

Would this process reverse flash a S4 back to Verizon from Cricket?
Probably not. From what I understand of this, Verizon will not allow a phone sold by Cricket onto their network.

There's nothing different in the phone - it's just that the ESN isn't going to be permitted on their network.

If you really think there's something Cricket-unique on the phone, then I'd flash the VZ radios found in this forum and see what happens. However, if it's an i545, then all you should have to do is to ask VZ to activate it, and install a VZ SIM for LTE.

It's a Verizon S4 that someone had flashed to cricket. When calling in to activate, Verizon said that the phone should activate but wouldn't. We flashedit this mo rning to Page Plus and tried activation. The result from that was perfect on their end but theph one only had 3g with no ability to call. Not sure what to do next.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for this!!!! I was beginning to get worried there. All of the other soft-brick 'fixes' didn't work for me, but this one did the trick! Thanks again!!

I want to wipe and update, is this for me?

So if I'm not soft bricked, but I'd like to wipe my phone and update, I should flash this? I understand that it'll be wiped, that's fine- I previously had rooted through vroot so I wouldn't mind starting from scratch now that the new root method is out.

Yes this is what I did as I was in the same vroot delima as you. I even formatted my sdcard and reinstalled windows just to be safe. New root method is working fine for me although I used one of the older ones he keeps updating it. The one I used I had to install busy box think the new one has it included.

Has anyone that has used the new root method for MJ7 been able to successfully use Foxfi?
