I'm only aware of one PIT. The only one that is relevant is the original one we got on the forums SCH-i605-16gb.pit, since it pairs with this stock Odin image, If future OTAs use updated PITs, they'll handle that when you upgrade. If you want to download your exact PIT file from your phone*, you can use heimdall to do that, which I mention in this very thread.

DroidStyle's back to stock guide

*: Out of curiousity, that is. Downloading your PIT and then reflashing it with Odin is equivalent to using no PIT/repartition at all w/ Odin.

Okay, so I bought a Note 2 that was rooted and unlocked. It's running CleanRom 4.8 with TWRP recovery. Its baseband is I605VRALL4. I have downloaded everything I think I need to return it back to stock. I have Odin3 v3.07, Kies, and I have the pit file downloaded. I downloaded the alternate restore for VRALJRB like droidstyle said to. My problem is this. Odin does not see this file at all. It will see the pit file, but when I open PDA, it can't find the alternate restore file. I downloaded the original file, and Odin sees it just fine. Here's my question. If I try to flash the original file instead of the alternate restore file, will it brick my device or will it flash it just fine but lock the bootloader? I don't mind having a locked bootloader.

edit....I got it figured out. Thanks.

I just flashed the original file. It took me from vrall4 back to vraljrb. The original file will lock your bootloader. The alternate is the same file just without a bootloader attached to it. After I was done going through my setup, I was prompted for a software update. That took me to vrall4.
If you want to flash the alternate file, you have to use 7-zip to unzip it. Do that, and Odin will recognize it.

any idea why after accepting the newest OTA my phone became a paperweight? I odin'd back to stock using imnuts' restore and updated to 4.12 and when it tries to boot it flashes Samsung Note II and just keeps looping that. I can't get into the stock recovery or anything. Just Odin but when I try and flash through Odin again it fails.

Did you flash the pit file also? My friend didn't and his phone is doing the same as yours. Read pages 16 and 17. Without the pit file your really not 100% stock and I think the new OTA detected it.

If your bootloader is unlocked then that is what happens. You need to use the pit file as well to re lock the bootloader. There is a reason why you are not supposed to accept VZW OTAs once unlocked/jailbroken.

Any fix for this boot loop? My friends phone was on LL4 rooted and unlocked running beans rom. When the newest OTA came out he used THIS VRALJB restore to stock method but didn't flash the pit file. Everything seemed stock so he OTA up to LL4 after that update was installed and the phone rebooted the newest OTA popped up. He thought at that time he was completely stock so he accepted the newest OTA and when it went to reboot it started flashing Galaxy note 2. We tried this return to stock method again but it fails and the phone cannot boot into stock recovery. Anyone have a clue how to fix this?

I did the same thing, now my phone just flashes the Galaxy Note 2. :fingers-crossed:
I'll also be waiting for a reply to a fix.

Thank you.

Which Pit file do I use?
I tired ODIN the OP file, but Odin gives me a FAIL. :crying:
