My phone is sitting disassembled, but the new battery is in and is charging. Currently at 86 F so I probably have the proper battery temp monitor.

The battery cable was too long on mine as well.

I'm going to let it charge up to 100% and then put it all back together.

Keep an eye on the temperature see if it moves more than a few degrees. 86 F is exactly 30C which is what mine stays at all the time now cause my new battery does NOT have the temperature sensor. If it does not have the sensor, it will not show 0 degrees, it will stay right at 30C (or 86F).

Good info, thanks guys!

The temperature should go up soon after starting a fast charge. If it goes down while charging or doesn't change more than a degree or two that indicates a fake temperature sensor. They saved a nickel!

Because of that my battery will loose capacity sooner than a battery that has a temperature sensor.

The other battery sensors in our devices will still reduce charging current as the battery get closer to being charged.
My battery lacks a temperature sensor so there is potential for the battery to overheat to a damaging temperature while fast charging.

I monitor my charge current with an external USB ammeter as well as the data from my battery apk.

For me I usually charge overnight, so by using a lower current charger, or long cord on the OEM charger, that will hopefully slow down degradation of the cells.

After radionerd's experience with his Cameron Sino battery I'm getting nervous. Is there any way to check if you have a temperature sensor before installing the battery? What can I look for?

I guess my battery can't get any worse, but I'd hate to go through all the disassembly effort only to find out my new battery is lacking.
@NateK
A little late, but yes it's easy to see if replacement batteries have a thermistor. place an ohm meter on the pins I point to in the 1st picture below.
The thermistor is on the tiny PCB board. I checked at room temp, around 9K ohms, then heated with a hair dryer for about ten seconds on PCB, reading dropped to 4k ohms.
Then watched quick cooling recovery back to about 9k ohms (or what ever your room temp is). If it is fake, ohm reading might increase just a bit.

My phone made it to 14% with the new battery after first charge and then shutdown. I got almost 24hours use out of it which never would have happened with the original battery. Still disappointing, however.

It doesn't look like the temp monitor works, either. It won't measure more than 86F +- 2 degrees.

So it seems that even with Cameron Sino, it's a crapshoot on the battery quality.

No. It's your phone.

I had all kind of issues with my previous battery...early shutdown and very short battery life. And happening every single day.

I replaced the battery with a Cameron Sino and has been working like the first day for more than 4 months so far.

Not even a single day with an early shutdown nor a reboot. I can still reach 1% battery life. And before the replacement couldn't do that.

Temperature sensor is also working.

So the conclusion: your phone might have other hardware issues...
Or the Cameron Sino was faulty or damaged
Or the Cameron Sino was fake.

Yeah, but when did you buy your Cameron Sino? Perhaps they changed suppliers between then and now... It definitely wouldn't surprise me. I'm guessing they don't make their own batteries - they probably just slap their branding/packaging on it.

Now I just need to decide if I'm going to attempt this again. Is it easier to disassemble the second time? Obviously I won't have the same battle to remove the battery's glue, but how about getting into the case?

I would try with some Huawei fake battery that cost less than 10€.

They are smaller than the stock one, some of them have a temp sensor...they last less than a brand new 6P with a new battery. But afaik they don't have early shutdown.

If you have early shutdown with more batteries then it's probably a hardware issue in you end.
Now If you stop having issues with others batteries then the Cameron Sino was bad.

To quickly check that the battery sensor is working what I did is run Dev check after being used the phone for a while...(so it was hot and probably throttling) 38C then I've put the phone on the fridge for 5 minutes and battery temp went down to 25C-26C:

Agreed, I'm not doubting that the CS battery you got was good, but in my case (and radionerd's) unfortunately we didn't get so lucky.

The lack of temperature sensor means that CS either:
  1. Was fake
  2. Was bad
  3. Legit, but they changed suppliers
  4. My phone is bad and can't read the battery properly.

I just got my Cameron Sino in the mail. I won't have time to install till this weekend though. Looks like I got the one with no gold. Just black and white. Came from Amazon. Hope it is legit. Attaching pics of front and back.
Looks exactly like mine did. Hopefully you have better luck than I did.

Still, better than my old oem battery...

I just installed my CS battery, from Amazon, via Power-Matic. So far, looks like it is stuck at 30c, so I will try charging again to see if the temp goes up or not. So far, seems like a quality battery. I forgot to reset Accubattery b4 the install, so I have done that and will watch the capacity to see how it does. So far, on this charge, it is at 76% with 1h 35m screen on time. Pretty light use, a little web browsing, some Whatsapp messages and listening to some music now.

The install just requires patience. Used a hair dryer, went through a few guitar picks and one old credit card and one playing card. The glass did not break, I did not scratch the case up, and even the plastic cover is in pretty good shape. I had a new eBay case and covers, but did not use them. I also have a $10 eBay battery for just in case. It should be a lot easier to take apart the next time!

What's Cameron sino ,a type of battery
Yes, it is a brand of battery. He / they make one for the 6p. Not cheap compared to many, but it had been reported that they work very well and have the temperature sensor. Mine seems to work well, but does not appear to have the temp sensor. It does report 3399maH after the first charge though, so very close to the 3450 capacity...

Have you tried what I did yesterday? Put the phone on the fridge 3 minutes battery temp should drop below 30C use Dev check app.

I put it in the freezer for 10 minutes. Using either Accubattery, EXKM or DEv Check, it still says 30C. So, it does not seem to have the temp sensor.
