Correct me if I'm wrong.
After checking the following file (/data/misc/update_engine_log/update_engine.19700110-053335 ; you'll need root for that and yours could be different than mine), it shows up that the /dev/block/sda8 (which is the B system in the A/B system update), has been modified, even with automatic updates disabled (from long time ago not just after the October OTA) and without accepting anything. Would the update apply on reboot unless I modify this block device?

Thanks in advance!
That root method is getting killed even after killing terminal session, let alone reboot... Unlocking will PROBABLY be done straightly (i mean straightly turning off device and fastboot oem unlock), without rebooting

I found that someone found a way to exploit CVE-2019-2215 - https://www.exploit-db.com/exploits/46941

If we search for "CVE-2019-2215" in the forum, we can find many useful threads.

There is also another discussion on the Pixel Forum.

But I saw google had implemented astrophotography to Google Camera, and it seems that it's only for Android 10.

I was holding from updating my phone until finding a way to root it, but I think I will give up on the hold for that feature.
Go on 2xl discussions, there's magisk working, but it's temporary

Bro i need help please help me please
Afraid I can't my friend. Way smarter people than I have tried to find rootable exploits for the Verizon variant pixel series. Even the original pixel 1, which had an exploit a few months ago, no longer works anymore. So, it would seem unlikely that one will be found for the 2,3, and 4 anytime soon :(

Success on Android 10

I was able to unlock the bootloader on my Verizon Pixel 2 XL on Android 10 successfully using the method described in the first post. Thank you so much man. :good:

I got a warranty replacement around first of the month. When I got it it was not able to be unlocked. I went to Aruba for a week and used a local Sim card. Well today I went to adb the next beta version of Android and my oem locked setting was no longer greyed out. I have no idea why but maybe everyone should check there's because I find it hard to believe only changing Sims for a week made my bootloader unlockable.
