Mine is no longer grayed out. I did not do anything new today and all the sudden I could toggle it today. From the bug tracker, it appears many others are experiencing the same thing. Go check yours out.

I have 3 of the 3s(first order and 2 RMA units), received the 3rd with it working, and the previous 2 now are toggleable. Just spent my first day with the 3rd. The battery is pretty bad compared to my pixel 2. Wondering if it's worth giving one of the others a shot to see if it's better. Seems like it's bad for most though?

if i read that right, and you got it from best buy, then you dont have the unlocked version. So yours will be greyed out, best buy carries the verizon version which is bootloader locked.
But I see the Software Version on the box is PD1A.180720.030, not .031.

And I can use the phone without version sim card, it is NTT Docomo.

Is it still the verizon version?

its not sim locked which would allow you to use another carrier, but from my understanding you wont be able to unlock the bootloader. From past experiences best buy does not sell the unlocked version of the pixel phones.

Thank you for your help.

Now I can stop the stupid wating, return it and buy a new unlock one.

BTW. The seller which is from bestbuy tell me the phone that I bought is unlock version. Damn it!

They mean SIM unlocked, and it is. You can put any SIM in it you want.

It is not bootloader unlocked.

Most stores and tech support people do not understand the difference.

The message you see there is related to SIM unlocked, not an unlocked bootloader. It simply means just what it says. You can use the phone on any carrier.

Internet

Try connecting to the internet. Cheers to Best Buy returns customer service. I stormed back into the store thinking they sold me a locked phone, and as I explained to the service girl what I was trying to do, she looked at me like a crazy person when I said 'root' and OEM Unlock. Then when I showed her, she was like um, it says connect to the internet. I did so, and it was un-grayed. Leave it to customer service to teach a software engineer over here the simplest solution! I feel so silly, it said "Connect to the internet" right there inside the grayed out box.

Purchased from Google unlocked.

Running .30 version.

When I initially received the device I pulled the SIM from my OG pixel 1 and inserted and booted the 3. Set it up (running on AT&T) and used it. This morning I decided to root for theming only to notice it was grayed out. First thought was to factory reset and reboot with no SIM inserted. Did that. Still gray.

Am I missing something new?

Can you tell me how you did that exactly?

I unlocked mine with a Verizon Sim in it. No problems at all. I also did the same with 3 different pixel 2's when the pixel 2 was first released. Again, not one problem with any of them. I see a lot of talk about the unlock possibly being tied to the SIM. It isn't. I know first hand.
