does anybody prefer sense over stock?
What do you mean? The stock rom IS sense (2.1)

On a sidenote, who uses Chrome as their browser? I've been having a lot of issues with force-closing and the window becoming unresponsive, even if I only have a couple tabs open, and I know it's not the computer because I've had the same issues on my desktop and laptop

Some users see Sense as the UI it is and call vanilla stock, since technically that would be right. We've had this mixup before :D

Wellll I guess thats technically right :p
But then what would a "stock" rom look like? I mean, most manufacturers put their spin on Android, Samsung uses Touchwiz, HTC uses Sense...

What strapped is saying is that cm7 would be stock in this situation, as it is stripped of all the added UIs of the phone companies. For example: what the Nexus devices are shipped with is technically stock, then the companies add their UIs and make their own versions of stock for their devices.
