Transparent phones, will this be what our future is like?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=tkhWXspmiYE

I think it is a cool concept, but I doubt we see it anytime soon. The tech companies have been showing off transparent displays for years now. Touting how they will revolutionize this market and that market, yet we have not seen them on a mass scale yet in any form factor. But these guys are talking about not only a transparent display but a whole transparent mobile device.

I'm personally not big on the whole transparent thing.. There isn't much reason in seeing thru your phone IMO. I don't even care for the transparent status bar or dock... But that's just me.

I feel the same way, although I do think its a cool idea. I honestly cannot say any of the use-cases shown so far are actually really useful, or useful enough to off-set the cost factor. And any displays of the tech in already existing heavy usage form-factors such as computers and cell phones are pointless and would present more real-world problems in everyday usage instead of solving them.

Anyone here ever deal with Mediafire customer service? These people are horrible, I email them about forcing users to watch videos in their captcha and the customer service tells me that they only use static images not videos. I view the dom tree in the browser and can see the flash video file is being loaded from the same servers as everything else used in the captcha, but they refuse to admit it is even happening. This is insane to me. I've viewed it and took screenshots from both linux and windows partitions but I guess they believe I'm photoshoping them or something.

I'm going to delete everything off of my account there except my files uploaded for xda and then never use my account again. F*ck mediafire!

Its a flash video so its not going to show in mobile. But they basically integrated a commercial into the captcha, you have to watch the video and wait for the video/commercial to reveal the captcha code to put in before you can download the file.

I want to shove a broom stick up the mediafire customer reps a** that I have been dealing with. A quick google search and I find other people talking about the video ads
http://phantasytour.com/bands/4/topics/3275840/posts
And searching the company name that comes up on the captchas, solve media, brings up a slew of articles about them coming up with the idea of joining captcha and commercials to create revenue for companies.
http://venturebeat.com/2010/12/23/solve-media-video-ads/

But all they serve up is 'static images' for their captcha, and I'm a liar.

It's annoying but what I mind most is any website playing sound be it a captcha video, an autoplaying embedded video or music. You play sound without me willfully and knowingly asking for the sound to play then it will be the last time I visit your site, use your service or etc.

This isn't the 90's anymore when people first learned they could play music through their users browsers, this is 2013 where a set of standards and conventions exist and all websites should abide by.

I completely agree, it irritates me most if its late at night and/or I have my speakers up and the loudness just bursts out unprepared for.
