hi there, which ROM would you recommend to me?
I have been using the stock android for almost 2 years now and recently I am sick of the numerous freezes, wifi connection problems, slowliness and would love to try a ROM that would put a new life into my device.

I want a nice ROM that is similar to stock (I dont really care about customization much) but it has to be:

- stable as a rock
- the fastest out there
- nice looking

Don't know why but I'm still waiting for that kernel 3.4.x thing coming in one of these factory images. Although I think that's not gonna happen anymore.

Hello there,
After 1,5 year with stock android 4.4.4, and stock kernel(unlocked and rooted),I decided to flash franko kernel.I did it very simple, using the free app from play store(fku).although I have the feeling that my tablet is already running faster and smoother,I didn't find any option to set up the kernel.what I mean is, the optimization is being just automatically when I flashed the kernel, or there is somewhere a section/option where I can set up some values by myself(e.g. setting cpu frequency, governor and more)? Please forgive my pure English and my noob question

that's all fine and dandy except my N7 is a joke now. It can barely run Chrome and the battery hardly lasts a day off the charger (with no activity). even if the battery were the sole problem, the performance is abysmal.
You clearly need to start from scratch and flash factory image. Cause my n7 started to seem like a joe as well but after factory image flashing/starting completely fresh the device was like a new again. It may not fix your battery problems (if it's simply physically dead battery) but you will get great performace back & your nexus won't be a joke anymore. The lagginess that occures on the device when it gets older is known to be due to cheap memory asus used on nexus 7 (2012) model.

Fku app itsef has these options, check it again and see by yourself. But you need to have paid version of the app ;) if you appreciate the kernel and franco it's not a big deal to pay that. However if you don't feel like supporting franco you can also try some other kernel tweaking apps like trickster mod.

Another noob question.before flashing franko kernel,I kept a nandroid backup using twrp.In case I want to restore stock kernel(to get ota the android L for example),I have to restore the backup through twrp or I could only flash the boot.img from the original factory image? Obviously I don't want to loose any data or apps

You can do it via recovery or using fastboot (factory image). Basically if you restore only boot via twrp (from your backup) it will also do the trick. But you can of course also flash the boot.img from the factory image.

I ask because I saw somewhere that franko kernel "infects" and other aspects and flashing only the boot.img isn't enough.
