Dirty flashing via ota can cause some issues. If u get sensors/camera/wifi related issue please restore persist(attaching in first post)

Camera App Crashes

Hi,

I just turned on my redmi 4a after I saw this thread.
I successfully flashed to the baltic recovery, installed the ZIP for RR and Gapps.

But my camera app, usage of camera crashes the application in use (example: Whatsapp, Instagram)
I see no mentions in changelog about a camera issue.
Is it specific?
Please Help!

Already told to restore persist in case camera/sensor/wifi etc

Thanks for the release and support! I've been using RR for android 9 for a while, but it took me some digging around to find this community, forum and thread.

So, I'm writing because my camera crashes as well.

To Restore The Persist that i shared as attachment

-Goto twrp(or any recovery u have ) -> restore -> persist and restart

OK, I created a directory in the MicroSD card /TWRP/BACKUPS and extracted "PERSIST" into it, apparently TWRP accepted it, but I'm getting

Formatting Persist using make_ext4fs...
Restoring Persist...
[Persist done (0 seconds)]
[COLOR="Red"]Failed to mount '/data' (No such process)[/COLOR]
...done
[RESTORE COMPLETED IN 1 SECONDS]

Am I supposed to format into ext2, then ext4 again and install everything over again?
[EDIT1]: R. Confirmed! I discarded my installation and started from scratch the following steps:

1. Wipe, then go to advance and change /system to ext2, then again ext4
2. Recover PERSIST
3. Install RR, then GAPPS pico (to avoid long time or stalling) (Magisk is failing to mount /vendor which is not a drive my device has)

Or is there any other way to circumvent this TWRP madness or just using another recovery tool?
[EDIT1]R. I tried PitchBlack Recovery Project (PBRP) and while it's cool, it has been more of a hassle. [/EDIT1][EDIT2]No hassle at all if I'm using it for rooting. I didn't even need to install the .zip content, just extract the TWRP/recovery.img, flash it and boot into it, it mounts /vendor and I-can't-remember no problem. After a reboot to system you have root![EDIT2]
I haven't been able to get Magisk or SuperSU either, which are a must for me.

i had this issue in pitch black recovery and older twrp. I recommend you to change to Sky Hawk Recovery Project LInk
btw this wont prevent you from installing rom or gapps this will only prevent you from doing any changes is data partition ( Internal storage can be accessed in /sdcard )

If u get camera/sensors related issues restoring persist will fix those

In theory, it is meant to do what you described.
In practice and my experience, it did nothing. After several attempts, I had to flash.

If i boot in recovery and do update there, after booting back in os, all apps will be to their defaults?
A bit tricky when need to recover banks apps.

After 3rd charge, i get the message slow charge... strange! changed chargers and cables but still get same message.

I have not installed persist...
Any ideas?

Users told me that Cast works, if it still doesn't send me a logcat while try to cast / find for wireless displays and ill check.

OTA is actually dirty flashing zip , app data wont be affected , but if have flashed gapps which does not support automatic reinstall on ota, u will need to re flash it
Also please clear Dalvik / Cache after ota,

Persist is a partition in device which contains files for time , sensor configuration and some other stuff . Its corruption can cause sensors , wifi etc to not working properly

Check if u have enabled smart charging in RR settings or check if u have any custom kernels installed
