I've also installed the unofficial LineageOS build as mentioned by Jaymee. Dirty flash over the official build is sufficient. For your information Shivam (the unofficial build creator) has a thread in XDA too at https://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-mi-3/development/rom-cm-14-t3488024). Do check out the information there. I've asked in that thread if we can actually dirty flash the official build (some time in future) over his build. The answer is positiveFull wipe or over lastest cm?

It's working fine so farIs anyone using the new nightly of Lineage OS? If someone uses it, how does it work?
I've installed yesterday LineageOS experimental. I opted for factory reset then lineage, opengapps and supersu.zip.
Then I updated to last nightly.
I'm just using Mi3 for testing and only with wifi, so I cannot say anything about quality of phone calls, bluetooth or similar.
But I'm impressed with LineageOS, first of all because "old" Mi3 is so supported and also because it seems to me my Mi3 has a new life. In other words, good work guys !
You're right. If you opt for factory reset / full wipe, do not need to install experimental build. You can directly install nightly. Experimental build for your data migration from CM to LineageOS.

Btw, make sure your partitions are in ext4 format, not f2fs
If you flash TWRP through fastboot, after the flashing is done, use VolDown+Power to enter the Recovery.I did flash twrp using fastboot. But when booting to recovery, it just boots up in cyanogens own recovery...??
