i just tried it again, i.e.
i wiped data/system/cache/dalvik and then re-installed XenonHD ROM (May-2018) + Magisk + Advanced Kernel
and i can replicate the GPS indicator fault.

the GPS icon in StatusBar stays ON, even when GPS is off.
when GPS is switched on/off, the icon just stays on.

when i reboot the phone, the GPS icon will disappear.

--------

edit:

i just wiped data/system/Dalvik/cache and flashed XenonHD (April-2018) + Magisk
and this time, the GPS icon does not even come on, on the StatusBar.

this is weird.
Try other ROMs then. :silly:

thanks for this feedback.

i can recommend flashing the "Advanced Kernel" with the XenonHD ROM.
you can find it here --> https://xdaforums.com/zenfone-3/development/kernel-advanced-kernel-lineageos-15-1-t3760007

i have been using this "Advanced Kernel" with 2018-April version of XenonHD , and it works fine and smooth.

I used Magisk and bank applications can work well too.
I have also installed Magisk. It's working well after hiding root from the bank app :good:

i figured it out now.

when you switch on the GPS, it is displayed in the QuickTiles.
but it did not show up in the StatusBar.

HOWEVER, when i opened Google Maps or other GPS-related apps, the GPS status-bar icon shows up,
and the phone happily uses the GPS functions and it looks good on the phone.

as soon, as close the Maps, the GPS status-bar icon disappears (but the quick-tile icon remains switch on too )

maybe, it's a design "feature"

It shows the icon when you use GPS apps. If you are not, it remains idle. :)

I did Clean installation of ROM and selected bare minimum gapps (calender sync, pixel launcher, wallpapers, face unlock, device health manager) from arm64 8.1 Aroma package. Installed rest from playstore.
This worked for me.

i'm liking this XenonHD ROM a lot, but wondering if
anyone having problems with restoring App+Data , using TitaniumBackup Pro [TIBU] ?

TIBU just stays stuck on "Restoring..." and then nothing happens.

i don't know if this is related to this ROM (not being rooted) or Oreo firmware

( i gave SuperSU permissions to TIBU via Magisk )

Just change the App Processing Mode to Interactive in TiBu Menu. Mine works fine with magisk v16 installed using this setting.

For all the guys who r skeptic so as to try this rom due to battery concern, let me tell you, i am a heavy user and i get more than 6hrs of SOT on this rom. i flashed advanced kernel along with this rom .
The rom is fluid and even more stable.
Aprreciated the efforts put by our developer to bring tis to us.
Go ahead and enjoy this rom.
Only thing i miss is full substratum support, but its okk.

How do you get 6hrs of SOT ? what kernel settings are you using? is your heavy usage consist of using mobile data too or only wifi?

XenonHD is a custom firmware aka ROM for various Android devices. It is based on LineageOS 15.1 with additional features, performance and battery life improvements.
The idea behind XenonHD is to give users a ROM that is "blazing fast, rock stable and buttery smooth".

    Flashing Instructions:

To install this ROM you will need to have a latest custom Recovery such as TWRP installed.
    • Copy the downloaded ROM to your phone.
    • Boot into your recovery
    • Back up your ROM
    • Make a full wipe (system, data, cache, dalvik)
    • Install the ROM
    • Install GAPPS package
    • Reboot - the first boot can take up to 5 minutes
    Installing updates:
    • Copy the downloaded update to your phone.
    • Boot into your recovery
    • Back up your ROM
    • Install the update
    • Optionally wipe caches
    • Reboot

I have a problem that when I use dark theme in the settings, and that I try to edit the QS tiles, I can barely see the tiles below (the colors are all white). I can't attach screenshot tho, is anyone else facing this problem?
Rom is still experimental so expect some minor design flaws for the time. ;)

They're many changes in rom side today probably I'll release a new build tomorrow... :silly:
