For anyone interested in purchasing the HDMI cable you need to obtain an HDMI cable v1.3 type C to A.

Also, it would seem for playing movies you would have been better off getting the 3xRCA Cable instead of the Dock.
Note: the 3xRCA fits into the BOTTOM of the Tab and not the Audio port as used on the Galaxy S.
What resolution will i get if you run the 3xRCA? can i send 720p to the tv?
Or will it be i think 576p? Standard dvd quality?

No, you won't get 720p but it is still a good and watchable picture.
Have a look at this link and the video which shows the detail.
Bear in mind that was on an SGS using the Audio 3.5mm Port but there will be no difference in quality between the 3.5mm Audio Port and the 30 Pin Port at the foot of the Tab.

EDITED: This is the cable you would need.

Thanks.
Will i get the same functionality whit the hdmi dock liked it showed in that video whit tv-out cable. Surf the internet, maps games will all the things i do on my tab be showed on the tv Or is it just video that will be transferred?

its for shure easier whit the tv out cable, cheap and just plug and play, but a bit worried of the picture quality

can't some one make a video and show how it looks when you use hdmi dock and the tv-out cable so we can se the difference

I have the 3xRCA cable for the Galaxy S and have used it in all manner of things including what you mention.
Obviously text on screen will depend upon your TV in question but I have used the cable on a number of Samsung LCD/LED TV's and have had no issues with going online.
If anything the only issue is with the length of the cable which is something in the region of 3ft in length. I prefer a longer length and for that I purchased an expensive 3xRCA extension cable of 5mtrs which means I could sit comfortably in a chair at a good distance and surf/play games with the SGS on the TV.
btw... is the Thanks button working? ...... just a question that is all. :)

I was going to do that at first untill i noticed you cannot have the 3xRCA cable and Charage cable plug in at the same time, which is why i went with the dock.

I sent thanks to you (not sure if its working).

I bought the desktop media dock from Mobilefun.co.uk for £39.99 + £2.50 post and package, then i had to buy a mini hdmi to normal hdmi cable because it does not tell you the size untill you get one and unpack it then notice the smaller hdmi port on the dock.

So far not at all happy with it.

First it would not work, so i had to unplug then re-plug hdmi cable in a few times, then when it did work all i got was a very small picture of the android launcher, if you rotate the tab then lock the screen its full screen on the tv, then i played a test video file (175 mb simpson cartoon), it was very bad washed out and blurry, so then i tryed a 700mb film and it was just as bad.

So i downloaded a film from samsung movies using my free credits from the uk deal, the file rock n rolla was about 1.5gb and a wmv file, guess what, thay don't work it tells you the movie is protected and cannot be played though the hdmi output, now that about cut it for me, what a waste of just short of £50.00 pounds.

Also once you are running though hdmi the speaker output don't work you can only have sound though the hdmi output/tv, unplug hdmi cable and sound works form the earphone/speaker socket on the dock?

I'm hoping that its not all down to the dock and maybe my old 32" lcd tv which only does a max of 1080i is to blame but i not gonna buy a £500 tv just to find out.

It would also have been nice if you had some way to config the hdmi output like on some of the cheap tablets from china where you could pick 720p or 1080p maybe if i could drop the tab down to 720p all might be good, lets hope new firmware at some stage fixes this.
How tight a fit is it? Meaning if you have one of the poly cases would it still fit?

Just a quick note to avoid the official screen protectors - a load of rubbish. I didn't expect great things from them and only plan to use until my Martin fields turns up but they really are out of the dark ages and bubbles galore!

USB adapter

Transform your Samsung Galaxy Tab's dock connection port into a standard USB port with the official Camera Kit. Plug USB sticks directly into the device for data transfer, or connect straight to a camera for advanced functionality.
Exactly. Thanks for the link. So do you think it will be compatible with any usb? Ive got a nike+ watch that I want to start syncing to this, so hopefully there are no boundaries with this adapter, ie, cameras (pictures) only.

One thing that will be interesting is if you can connect a external hard disk.
As long you take the power from the wall AC
I almost seems like you could do so if the text in the description is right.
"transforms to a standard USB port"
"for data transfer"
