Use adb app control and delete meta services, delete everything to do with Facebook and meta apart from the Facebook app then the battery drain will stop for Facebook
People say this but Facebook isn't even in the top 10 for wakelocks and averages about 3 minutes a day on my device, hardly worth noting at all. I set the app to optimized battery and Messenger to unrestricted and neither of them drain my battery.

It could drive system/play services/kernel wakelocks though right?
Not happening on my device. I have limited permissions as I suspected that the location permission was the one causing wakelocks on previous devices and ever since, it hasn't been an issue except one update where the app was running nonstop but they dropped a patch the next day to fix it.

Any tips particular or unique to S23 to conserve battery drains ?
Don't restore backups from your previous device. If you don't start fresh, you'll have all kinds of wakelocks and unexplained drain. Other than that, put social media apps on restricted or optimized and just use the phone. Not much really needs to be tweaked. I average 6.4%/hr screen on and 1.5%/hr screen off with a poor signal, WiFi, Bluetooth attached to my Galaxy Watch 4 Classic (which isn't connected to LTE so everything it does goes over Bluetooth), Bluetooth playing shows on VLC with the screen off at night while I'm sleeping, auto brightness on, 1080p (I don't see the point in 1440p on a display this small so I just leave it at 1080p), 5G on, using dual SIM, on full performance mode... It is a struggle for me to kill this battery in a single day unless I'm gaming heavily.

Awesome! Thanks a ton for the detailed feedback :)

There's one thing that is actually used in electric cars and can be used anywhere else where lithium batteries are used - some of battery capacity is hidden from the user making it a "buffer". This way user can see degradation starting only when this buffer is exhausted i.e. the actual battery capacity decreases to the "net level" which is made available/advertised to user.

There's of course another issue as well which can not be hidden - degradation causes the internal resistance of battery to increase which leads to quicker drain under heavy load while behaviour under standby might not seem to be affected (yet).

Anyways one of the biggest factors affecting battery degradation is still the temperature. I usually use the routine that switches charging over to "slow" (fast charging OFF) based on charge level while charging and reverts the change afterwards.
Yes I also believe heat is a battery's arch enemy and have always avoided fast charging, and have never used it - that is, I always disable all fast charging in my Samsung phones since 2016. In fact, I actually charge slower than using the default Samsung cable, as I have a "mashed up" connecting cable via my laptop cable which slows charging even further - so charging speed is around 0.5% per minute, which is plenty fast enough for me.

Interestingly, wireless charging (not fast) appears to be even slower than 0.5% per minute - I'd estimate it around 0.3-0.4% per minute, and yet it quite obviously heats up the phone. With my 0.5% per minute via above cable setup, I notice no obvious heat at all.

This screenshot was at around 17% remaining battery. 23u has been great for me 👍👍

I freezed mata services. It was the main culprit for night battery drain.
Yeah meta services is a bad drain, the first Samsung device I got was the s21 ultra and meta services and carrier services drained my battery so much everyday, it took ages before I learnt how to delete them, ever since every phone I get they are the first built in apps I delete although with the s23 ultra carrier services wasn't on the device

in another forum a guy told he had bad battery life with running good lock , camera assistant and stuff. He didnt use backup, just fresh start with the phone. He didnt know what causes his battery drain, so he he installed everything new and fresh again but without good lock and now he has great battery life. is it known to cause battery drain or is it just a coincidence?

No issues on mine. Never faced any issues with battery drain on any S flagship ever.
Was there a proof that good lock caused that battery drainage? There are many application which can cause battery problems. Never heard before that good lock does that.

no he doesnt know for sure good lock was the drain, it was just his suspect cause it doesnt appear in battery consumption list

Lately I've been having a bad battery life.

I mean, kind of 8 hours of SOT under wifi...which is bad

I don't know what happened, I went holiday and i used the phone connected with android auto (so always in charge at 85%). Since then battery life significantly decreased

I will probably reset everything after the next update

Could you provide prints of your used settings?
    Sure.

I've resisted the urge to take the plunge towards Galaxy Hz app this long...Since this is a native 120 hz display, restricting it to 96 hz could mean choppy animations? Is this true?
Leave it at 120hz. Battery life is already great. Or use the light mode if you need even more.

I've had the S23 Ultra since launch day and this is one of the best phone Samsung has put out in a while. I came from the s21 Ultra which was a very good phone but the battery life on this thing is insane. I'm including an extended screenshot and this is just moderate use but still I could easily get 10 hours on screen time and I haven't put this on a charger in over 4 days.

    What is your phone smoking??

How can you get such unbelievable battery life/ SOnT??
Well I do have that app called Galaxy Max Hz which allows me to change my refresh rate to 96 instead of 120. And then I have it set to 10 Hertz with screen off plus it's got a doze mode built into the app and I do have quite a few notifications turned off but I always have sync on and location is always on. Plus I also removed a bunch of apps using ADB commands so they weren't running in the background and I am still one of those few that use greenify because now it works even better with the shizuku manager.

All my notifications comes in time. Apps which needs notifications are "unrestricted" on my device.
Will give your options a try and see how I get on, after charging my phone to 100% before bed last night I woke up this morning with 2% lost, which is exactly the same as any other night, will see how I get on throughout the weekend

meta services drain battery during the night (10pm~6am),anyway to stop this?
Yes, get rid of facebook and the other garbage associated with it. But if you practically live in facebook, then live with this battery drain...it's only going to get worse.

Wow that is insane! How are you getting that crazy battery life? Can you share your stats please? WQHD+ is being used? 120hz refresh rate? I feel like I saw you switched off 5G, and location. Anything else you turned off?
Using WQHD, Adaptive Smoothness, Adaptive Brightness, Adaptive Battery, Standard Power, 5G mobile Off and using LTE instead. Other than that it's all Stock without Root. But I am Deaf so I don't use voice calling, just text and data. When I did that test today it was all 5G WiFi for data with Mobile Data off cause I was at home.

This post might be a little off-topic but I think we must stop obsessing over the SOTs. I see screenshots with 10 hrs+ SOT. While this is impressive, you must realize that you spent most of your waking hours looking at the phone than yourself and/or people around you! This is scary!

Yes, SOT's are good to show off but it's not a metric of the phone's battery life or its performance. I know there will be participants here ready to pull out the flame gun by showing my own battery life post a few posts earlier! But, hear me out, the S23U is a very capable device that's intelligent enough to extract the max juice out of the battery. We can all hit record SOTs on this device by simply opening an ebook reader and reading a book or at least pretending to read it - open the app 8am, leave the phone and come back after 12 hours...believe me, your battery % (assuming you started at 100) would be around 60% with 12 hours SOT. I'm saying this based on my experience when I experimented with my old S21U. We should be more concerned with rogue battery drains than with endurance.

Please take some time off...please don't miss out on the good things in life in the pursuit of getting the highest SOT...it's a humble request!

    P.S. Let the flaming begin!

Had my s23 ultra since 7 Feb and consistently get just under 10 hours of SOT (most of my day is indoors on WiFi, with a 2 or 3 hours walk most afternoons in 4g)

I am running pretty.much on default settings for screen and battery - I just use my phone normally and forget about battery optimisation settings

This is the best battery.life EVER on a Samsung!
