Unfortunately, I have had poor battery life after the March update. Mostly from Google Play services. I turn off autosyncing, denied location request from most apps and even cleared cache and data. It went from using 2-3% of battery to using 10-16%.

PS. Deleting the data on google play services forces you to reset your galaxy watch so back up your watch data on wearable before you do it.

What happened to my device?
Used to have amazing battery life

Consider that I'm using every type of power saving

So the March update battery drain fix is this:

Uninstall updates to Google Play services in the app page, also clear cache and data, turn off auto sync in the account settings page, under Google app turn off precise location and use approximate location. Under location deny location to apps that don't require it. Go to battery settings and look for apps using alot of battery put them under restricted instead of optimized. Think Facebook, Instagram, snapchat etc. Power off the phone and reboot holding the power button and volume up and scroll down wipe cache partian and clear it. Then scroll down to repair apps and select it, then let the phone reboot and you should be set.

Google play services went from using almost 18% of battery to using under 2% in one day. Today is my first day since the change so hopefully it's good from here on out.

I'll keep you guys updated with any changes and may take the advice of the other poster above and use samsung email instead of Gmail but I'll give it some time and see.

Did you meant April? March update was a while ago

You had 7 and a half hours of SoT, having 17% left and you are still complaining?

What the?
Used to be better, much better...I lately noticed a degrade I battery life, after my holiday where I used the phone often plugged to the car for Android auto

Anyway, seems to be back on track on this cicle (charged at 85%)

What made the Google play services drain disappear with me was turning off everything to do with location, Google location accuracy is a big battery hog, also find my mobile, Samsung and Google has their own version, turn them off and my Google play services went from 4% a day and being top of the list to not even being in the top 10 and a 0.3% drain

So does that mean there's no need for Google location accuracy. That is, just the location needs to be enabled in the device? And, does that mean the Google location accuracy is a vestigial feature?

Go through your settings unfortunately you get duplicated features from samsung and Google and start turning them off. As far as I can tell the only app that needs my precise location is Google maps, everything else is unnecessary imo.

Yes, that I know and I have done that. But when the location is disabled don't we have to disable the location accuracy too. Else, wont Google location accuracy unnecessarily ping for location even if GPS is disabled?

The baterry can not work everyday at the same performance

I have like 7 to 10 hours sot depend how i use my s23u

Some days you have sync in background on WhatsApp, Google app,PlayStore and other

So dont panic everythings is fine for now
These phones seem obscenely inefficient.
10 hrs SOT = 500 mAh, average SOT usage.
7 hrs = 714 mAh, average.
A baseline of 350 mAh in SOT be reasonable, maybe 400 mAh.
My optimized stock N10 is using an average of 350 mAh with screen on, if you were getting that you would have 14 hrs of SOT!
You also have a lot of junk running... consequences.

I see my actual real time usage drop as low as 70 mAh a couple times a minute when idling. When the lowest value is above 100 mAh at idle I know there's a problem.

Not sure if comparing with Note 10 is useful - screen is smaller (although the 10+ is the same I think), screen resolution maximum is 1080p, and refresh rate can't exceed 60Hz. I'd suspect there are also numerous other "under the hood" differences (including simply a better display) which allow the S23 Ultra to perform better (in various tasks) but also use more battery.

I have these things turned on and my Google Play Services battery is quite minor at .2% currently today and .2% over the last 7 days.

The reality is the average consumer wants to get through a workday without having to charge and this phone delivers that in spades. You also can't compare the two unless you were running the same software with a similar configuration. This is common sense. If people need days and days of battery, and are willing to make the sacrifices necessary in internals and absolute phone size, Oukitel has them covered with a 21,000mAh battery - https://oukitel.com/pages/oukitel-wp19

That Oukitel looks like a beast and as slow as a beast. Lol. UFS 2.1! 12nm MediaTek with 2 a76 and 6 a55. Ddr 4.

At least it will last a week on a charge because you are going to need extra time doing normal things.

No case needed and also serves as an emergency window breaker and assault weapon 🔪🔫. 😂

Yeah it serves a very specific niche for sure lol. They do have higher-powered options with smaller (but still ridiculous) batteries in the 9000-12000mAh range.

It has been mentioned before, but one should turn off "App install optimisation" in Google Play Store settings. This is a one of sneaky ways for Google to "spy" on app usage by using Google Play services in a background (to "make apps faster to install, open and run for everyone"). I disabled that option and it helped more than any other tweak related to Play Services. It dropped quite a lot down in a battery usage list...

Can someone please respond that is using 1440p, 120hz, and basically normal settings beyond that? Like Bluetooth, Wifi on, mixed use on Wifi and 5g and tell me the kind of battery life you're getting, maybe a screenshot and screen on time?

On the s22 Ultra right now, I love the phone, the battery life stinks.
Battery life with S23 Ultra is soooo much better than S22 Ultra.

I've resisted the urge to take the plunge towards Galaxy Hz app this long...Since this is a native 120 hz display, restricting it to 96 hz could mean choppy animations? Is this true?
Leave it at 120hz. Battery life is already great. Or use the light mode if you need even more.

All my notifications comes in time. Apps which needs notifications are "unrestricted" on my device.
Will give your options a try and see how I get on, after charging my phone to 100% before bed last night I woke up this morning with 2% lost, which is exactly the same as any other night, will see how I get on throughout the weekend

meta services drain battery during the night (10pm~6am),anyway to stop this?
Yes, get rid of facebook and the other garbage associated with it. But if you practically live in facebook, then live with this battery drain...it's only going to get worse.

Wow that is insane! How are you getting that crazy battery life? Can you share your stats please? WQHD+ is being used? 120hz refresh rate? I feel like I saw you switched off 5G, and location. Anything else you turned off?
Using WQHD, Adaptive Smoothness, Adaptive Brightness, Adaptive Battery, Standard Power, 5G mobile Off and using LTE instead. Other than that it's all Stock without Root. But I am Deaf so I don't use voice calling, just text and data. When I did that test today it was all 5G WiFi for data with Mobile Data off cause I was at home.

This post might be a little off-topic but I think we must stop obsessing over the SOTs. I see screenshots with 10 hrs+ SOT. While this is impressive, you must realize that you spent most of your waking hours looking at the phone than yourself and/or people around you! This is scary!

Yes, SOT's are good to show off but it's not a metric of the phone's battery life or its performance. I know there will be participants here ready to pull out the flame gun by showing my own battery life post a few posts earlier! But, hear me out, the S23U is a very capable device that's intelligent enough to extract the max juice out of the battery. We can all hit record SOTs on this device by simply opening an ebook reader and reading a book or at least pretending to read it - open the app 8am, leave the phone and come back after 12 hours...believe me, your battery % (assuming you started at 100) would be around 60% with 12 hours SOT. I'm saying this based on my experience when I experimented with my old S21U. We should be more concerned with rogue battery drains than with endurance.

Please take some time off...please don't miss out on the good things in life in the pursuit of getting the highest SOT...it's a humble request!

    P.S. Let the flaming begin!

Had my s23 ultra since 7 Feb and consistently get just under 10 hours of SOT (most of my day is indoors on WiFi, with a 2 or 3 hours walk most afternoons in 4g)

I am running pretty.much on default settings for screen and battery - I just use my phone normally and forget about battery optimisation settings

This is the best battery.life EVER on a Samsung!
