Unfortunately I have tried my best but I still have very poor battery life compared to others on my S23 Ultra. Besides that I believe that I have bad readings also about my battery consumption.

I fully charged my phone this morning, to 100%. Since then it seems that I have 50% left. Gsam pro with adb commands, I am not rooted, states that I have eaten up 67% of battery life. My stats are since my last full charge.

In general I have disabled nearby device scan, Find my phone, Location history, Wifi Scanning, Bluetooth scanning and all of the battery eating services that I could find from this thread. I also followed by the book the guide from the first post of this thread up until Google Play Settings.

During the night I have enabled a routine that disables wifi, mobile data, enables do not disturb mode etc. except Bluetooth because I use it with my Galaxy Watch 3 for sleep tracking. During that 9 hour period it loses up to 3% which is acceptable I guess.

My settings for the day:
WQHD+
Wifi Off for most of the day.
5G on most of the day, off when I got home and opened my wifi.
Standard profile mode
AOD On.
Location On for about half an hour, always off in generar.

Forgot to mention that Battery Guru states that my battery is 104% (!) Healthy.

Any kind of help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance

Here's what I can suggest you 1. Move to 4g...WiFi preferable. 2. Get rid of Facebook and its cronies. But if 2 is not possible then you need to live with this battery drain. As for your battery life, battery guru should give you a better idea. You can also check the kernel wakelocks in that app.

Most of days I am on Wifi only. Yesterday I was away from home staying in a hotel so I decided to use 5g only until I got back and decided to post. My battery drain is the same. When I am on Wifi I am constantly to 2g only with a routine.

I thought of Facebook too but actually the battery consumption is not that bad from it. I also have frozen meta.services and other Facebook related packages from App Freezer. I believe it's some wakelocks that I cannot find how to resolve like Ims_Service which are causing the problem.

Ims_Service for example keeps my phone awake with screen off. I googled about it and found out that it has something to do with Volte and Wifi Calling. I decided to keep them off for today and see how it goes.

Besides that wakelock I cannot see any other indication which explains such a high battery drain.

I am now starting a battery calibration process found on the thread of the first post. Already have charged my battery to 100% while my device was off. I let it die. Calibrate it and I will let it die again tomorrow.

Worth noting is that normally I am charging my device with a 120w baseus charger but now I have charged it with a 25w Huawei charger from my previous phone. I want to see if more watts have screwed up my device but I really don think so.

PS I looked the GSam stats again from my previous posts and understood that 67% battery drain from my apps when I had 50% battery left. It makes sense now.

Almost two month since I got the device and never have I had a device with such battery performance. All stock besides some apps put into deep sleep by the system, I don't use social media app besides Instagram and its also restricted. Other than that everything is full specs not saving options. Still have not gotten the April update, but I don't think battery can get better than that. First device I actually can use for two days without charging and first device that I am not worry about running out of juice before I get home.

the only thing that looks suspicious for being a battery hog in those screen shots is ims service which is wifi calling, unless you really need wifi calling id keep it disabled, but your held awake time is still extremely high, what does gsam say under the"view time held awake" and "view num of times waking the device"? this will tell you exactly what is keeping the device awake

After my battery calibration I disabled Wifi Calling and Volte. Ims_Service wakelock is gone now. I had tried that before without any luck but now I am also using Naptime app which I believe has helped a lot! A new wakelock arrived though called "deviceidle_maint". Also Aod Notify seems to cause some drain as well I believe.

My time held awake is now about 57 minutes on a 16 hour use. I don't know if it's still high to be honest.

About YouTube. I had it unrestricted because I have premium sub and when I had it restricted and listened music with my screen off sometimes it was cut off. Android stopped it from being open. The funny thing is that yesterday I opened it for like 5 minutes tops, not 15, so I restricted it again because it causes some drain. Since then it has not opened again.

ims_service wakelock has to do with VoLTE than with wifi calling as far as I have researched...Btw, do you use DEX a lot? If not, I'd suggest getting rid of it entirely. A possible reason for the drain you're experiencing could be dual-sims. Dual sims will always have more battery drain than single sim. If you have a spare phone, I'd suggest moving 1 of the sims to this and living with carrying 2 devices or accepting this drain for what it is.

Ims_Service is gone entirely after I disabled Volte. I took your suggestion and I disabled my second SIM entirely to see if it will help.

I noticed something strange though. I discovered that emergency notifications like earthquakes etc had been enabled again on my Google account. Wifi Scanning also had been re-enabled although I had them disabled since day one. Any ideas what may have caused this?

Did you reset your network settings or general settings? If so, this could cause these to be re-enabled.

I disabled Volte and Wifi calling recently. Before that I installed the April update which installed some apps I had disabled via adb since day one. Google app for example. In any case I will monitor it now and then and see if they come up again. Thank you for your help!

Judging by those screenshots, YouTube and always on display seems to be the main culprits also your Google play services is awake a wee bit more than it should be and I'm a bit confused as to what that app is at the top of the "num of times held awake" section, with the Samsung Dex icon, do you use Samsung Dex? If you want an improvement in battery life you need to kill these drains, put YouTube into deep sleep and that should be end of that drain, as for aod, is it vital to be on all the time? I have aod at the default setting which was tap to show and it has no drain on my phone, as for Google play services, if you turn Google location accuracy off in location services along with Bluetooth and WiFi scanning your Google play services should stop waking your device up, also try to find out what that Samsung Dex process is at the top of your "num of times waking held awake" and put it into deep sleep,

The only 2 sections I use for gsam is view times held awake and number of times held awake, whatever comes out on top of these 2 sections is what is keeping your phone awake

Yeah that icon had me confused as well. It's AOD actually I don't know why they use Samsung DEX icon for it. I will change AOD to tap to wake and see how it goes.

YouTube has been to deep sleep since yesterday because I saw that drain as well. I had it unrestricted because of my premium sub. When it's restricted It stops playing music when my screen is off after some time, that's why I had it loose. But it's restricted now and indeed has stopped waking up my device.

Wifi Scanning had re enabled it self for some reason but it's off now. I will turn off location accuracy also.

Thank you for your help, much appreciated!

Also for me imsService it the major wakelock...

The problem is that I don't have any option to disable nor wifi calling or Volte...probabile my phone carrier doesn't support it, but then the option is hidden in my settings

I'm coming from the S21 Ultra (Exynos) - has anyone noticed the S23 Ultra battery display drain from 100% is much slower?

With the S21 Ultra, I go from 100% to 99% within about 10-15 minutes (with AOD always enabled), even without using the phone. In contrast, it takes the S23 Ultra more like at least 40-60 minutes. I'm not complaining, but just found it interesting how different it was.
Just an update and interested to know people's experiences too - not sure if it's since the April update or not, but I've noticed "overnight drain" on 2 consecutive nights now to be unexpectedly good when starting at 100%. Over a 6-hour period (with about 2-hours having the AOD always enabled), it drops to 98-99% only!

Prior to both nights, I purposefully left the phone charging for an extra 30-60 minutes after it hit 100%, as I read some people claiming that it still charges for a while even after it displays 100%. I'm not sure if this made the difference. However, I'm actually a bit disappointed by all this, as it doesn't appear to be an accurate representation of battery % remaining.

Many devices hit 100% and keep charging for awhile, it's not unique to the S23 Ultra.

The social media apps shouldn't be installed.
Cloud apps can suck a lot of battery.
5G can as well. All Samsung's should be optimized or they will eat battery.

My N10+'s old battery is rated at about 3500 mAh and it's tearing these newer more efficient phones to pieces on SOT. No social media, sales or banking apps installed and about 70 factory loaded apps disabled. It gets about 10 hours SOT, 12-13 with a new battery.

With its huge 5002 mAh battery, a more efficient SOC and ram this new flagship should be able to best it... especially with 5G disabled.

Do not forget to disable all smart features as well, use it on lowest brightness available, only 2G, lowest resolution available. Or even better buy nokia phone with buttons. You'll be amazed with 1month battery.

Dude seriously your suggestions are out of this world. People are buying smartphones and you are suggesting to not use features/apps that makes this phone "smart"

Are you using camera? Asking because it will drain battery a lot
    4
View attachment 6010775Can someone confirm this is normal/bad? I feel like I get crap battery life out of this phone, even with airplane mode on. I always see posts of people getting 8hr Sot the most I've ever managed is 6hr30.
38% left and 5hours SOT is pretty good. You can't compare directly your sot to other people. They are not using their phone same as you, they don't have same exact apps inside their phone, they don't live in your area(cellular strength), they don't use same settings as you.
    3
    Will try that overnight 👍
What puzzles me is the amount of battery used in "deep sleep"....guess it's not that deep anymore.
And I was happy as a pig in s.. before this update 😡
Depends if you need Google backup, I don't. Disable Google Framework and Backup Transport if you don't use Google backup. Playstore is another I disable and OTA updates.
Google Firebase is another one if you don't use it, all Google/manufacter/app/carrier feedback as well. Even with all the above disabled, temporarily disabling Google play Services will yield another 1% or so an hour SOT.
Note: Gmail is a dependency of Google play Services. Gmaps needs it for some functions.

I don't update or upgrade, this is one reason why.
A fast, stable platform that fulfills its mission is all that matters. When you screw with the firmware you change the playing field for better or all too often worse. Arbitrarily doing updates/upgrades is a losing proposition as far as I'm concerned.

This stock N10+ is still running quit well on Pie; last update was 11.2019, last factory reset was over 3 years ago. No malware since the last reset. Even on an old battery rated at about 3500 mAh it's getting about 10 hours SOT. I like that.
Anything from Android 9* and above is relatively secure unless you do stupid things.

*there was a huge hole in Android 12 (if memory serves me correctly) when first released but they quickly patched it. If it ain't broke don't upgrade it🤣
    3
So the beta added a good feature in battery breakdown, detailing each app'd consumption and if its keeping the device awake. While they have screwed up with the SOT reporting, this feature would be really helpful to narrow down on battery drain culprits

Google play Services has a bunch of dependencies. Disabling it will particularly disable them ....
I don't understand why you paste this long reply (I remember having read it earlier)...

I am just suggesting to check whether GP-services are updated... I've seen several cases of high battery usage by GP-services while it was more than 4-5 months not-updated - for whatever reasons.

My GP-services use less than 0.5% per 24hrs. I have not disabled anything and I use the phone as intended/bought.
I have 2 sim cards (many times in poor reception conditions in outback), mobile data is always on as are BT, WiFi and location. GW4 is always connected. Daily automatic backups are scheduled.
    No power saving settings used.
My battery takes me through the day, with 6-8 hours SOT. I charge phone once per day to 85%.

    1692112345793.png

Furthermore, I am not at all interested in stories about the Note 10+. I had the Note 10+ for 2 years, never an issue, then the S21U; those phones are gone and forgotten...
    6
I came searching Xda just to see if anyone noticed the same.

My phone has gone from easy 36 hours usage, to now barely 24 and needing to charge again before I go to bed

Might have known it was only a matter of time before Samsung broke that dream battery life!
    6
it's not a question of fake but if you remove all the options that make your phone called a high end device and you use it as a low end device it's normal that you can hold 150h of screen on time I saw your previous post where you use the energy saver WiFi no gps no social network apart from YouTube. might as well buy a galaxy a52 at 100 euro and you get exactly the same experience as you

Batterylife with June/July builds are way worse than what it used to be. The ones saying it's same as before or "increased" or such, either have no idea about what it used be before June or giving wrong info for whatever reason..

This argument presents a false dilemma fallacy and seems uncharitable, in my opinion. Additionally, it's worth considering that individuals reporting no change or even improvements in battery life may have different setups compared to those reporting a significant decline. Given the numerous variables that can influence battery life, it is entirely plausible that system updates may only adversely affect specific setups.
