So the district manager just called me. He talked to the att rep and they have only shipped 25% of the original shipment. There was some issues so they didn't ship them all. He said that my store only had 2 pre orders and 7 are ordered but would be 7-10 days. But he would keep a look out for other stores. I told him another store in another district had some. So he us going to follow up and call me back. He was very apologetic that no one had called and someone should have. It's too bad it took a email to corporate to get some straight information. But at least they contacted me. Really impressed and earns my respect.

So let's see what he says tonight. My issue is communication, why couldn't the store tell me this.

He had called just after I got off the phone with other store. She was saying that the there isn't a launch date and they can only sale preorders. Whatever.

I hope they can do a district transfer and i can get it tomorrow. Hope for the best. The stress of anticipation is killing me and I want this to be over with.

The District manager called back and said the 2 at the other store are for preorder only. He gave my number to the store and that I could buy it the hour it gets in because I pre ordered. He also said he store should have had better communication. So more waiting but I am happy that least there is communication open now.

More waiting and following this thread to keep me busy. Maybe some Diablo 3 to keep my mind busy.

so for the $10 Best Buy Geek insurance thing....

i know there's no deductible and no limits to how many times you return the phone.

but can i exchange it for pedantic reasons like surface scratches on body or glass?

not that i'm planning to but i'd like to see how people use the insurance plan for their advantage without really abusing it

Just to clarify you do not return the phone with the bby "insurance". It is a rapid exchange replacement and you should see a replacement device arrive in about 1-4 business days. There is no deductible and it is unlimited claims (doesn't cover lost/stolen though).

In terms of the scratches question, if it hinders the devices functionality in any way then it gets replaced.

I'd like to know the answer to this too. I baby my phones, but just in case something bad happens, it would be nice to have some piece of mind.

Called the only Best Buy that showed they had AT&T G3s in stock, about 50 minutes from my house, they told me "Yes we have them in stock, but we are being told to hold them until tommorow!" I said "Really?" He said "Yeah, sorry we cannot sell them until tomorrow!"


Since I didn't have my preorder at this store, I didn't pressure about "Well, what If I have a preorder!" I simply said "OK" and hung up. That is so ridiculous really! I preordered on 6/6, my reciept says it will be available on or before June 21st, now a store has them and cannot sell them cause they are holding them until July 1st. Meanwhile, other Best Buy stores around the country are selling them, giving out their preorders. It just seems like every store just makes up their own rules. What the heck is this July 1st date anyways? AT&T have been selling this for weeks.


Just when I thought Best Buy couldn't screw this up any more!

I really can't understand what is going on with this whole mess. I hope you guys get your phones soon. I had to give up. I ordered through ATT on Thursday and my phone should be here today. I just knew that bb would have my phone when I went in on Friday to cancel my order (my luck you know). The still didn't have it or have any idea when they would. I did get a 50 dollar gift card for my trouble. A nice enough gesture I guess.

It's almost like some BB's are franchises and are free to make their own rules. I definitely appreciate that my BB was able to take care of me how and when they did but it's amazing to me that the rep selling the phone didn't know stock was on hand, yet the CS manager had 3 of them on hand when I talked to him just a minute after the rep telling me they didn't have any. Something seems awfully shady about this. Just like others being able to walk into a store, preorder on the spot and given the phone once they get the preorder email while another customer who had preordered at the same store weeks ago still has not gotten his phone.

The way the CS manager explained it to me while we were talking about the experience as I was getting my GS3 activated, he said the inbound preorder phones are not tagged for anyone in particular in transit, when they get scanned in once on location they get assigned to a customer according to the date they preordered and that process is fully automated, as is the email it generates once the phone is assigned to you. So how a customer who has already preordered can be skipped over for someone who happened to luck out and show up and "preorder" on site and walk out with the phone is beyond me. Seems like my CS manager wasn't being 100% honest or that store figured out a way to work around the automated processes.

Alright I broke down and bought a pebble blue last night from a different store. When my white pre order comes in at my local store will I be able to exchange them ?

What store? Best Buy? AT&T? So crazy, my store that has them and says they cannot sell them until tomorrow, and you bought one last night. Best Buy continuing to create their own rules I guess. AND, the store I preordered from knows nothing, one minute it is Apple, next minute it was delayed, next minute "You will get it before Verizon!"

Best buy, I called 4 different local stores yesterday afternoon, the one I pre ordered from has none in stock, 2 of them have plenty in stock but won't sell untill the 1st, and the one I picked the phone up from had one in stock and they let me buy it.
