Ahh ok I were wrong! I unzipped the file and entered in the rck recovery! Tonight I'll try as you said.
Double check: I'll not loose all my data right? It will be a normal update like if my bootloader was locked?
As far as i know no. Shouldn't be like flashing a rom only update so info should be ok but I'd backup anything you can to microsd just to be safe its always a good idea.

Can I install the TF300T 4.2.1 update on the TF300TG and not having 3G, just like some custom ROMs over there?Or there are some more differences and I will have to wait?

I think you'd better wait. This is kind of a big update that changes EVERYTHING (bootloader, kernel, partitions, ROM). You might end with an unreversible T without G,, if you know what I mean... If I were you, I would wait, just in case...

Facing an odd challenge here, with a locked device

OTA went wrong: after update (bue bar was filled) it turned to the "dying android". Rebooting = bootlooping. Tried to update manually through RCK (Asus zip on sd (also renamed it), select RCK), no luck (bootlooping). Tried wiping data, no luck (bootlooping).

We just can't get the device to boot. Any suggestions?

Asus warranty :) Seriously, if its locked and everything, and still in warranty, let them worry about it :) Plus without being unlocked, there isnt much we can recommend that you havent already tried yourself.

It's just outside of warranty of course :cyclops:

Fastbooting the blob is of no use since it's locked I think?
That does suck.. And yes, using the APK to "unlock" your device simply allows one to access the fastboot protocol. You may be able to send it back to asus and they could fix it for cheap. Have you tried placing the update.zip onto you microSD card and boot into recovery?

That's what he tried, yes. Also renaming the zip didn't help. Inside Asus' zip there were 2 zips, which he unpacked. He tried (also renaming it to epad_update.zip) both of them & entering rck.

Just entering rck should dot it, right? I don't think he selected anything in the stock recovery...

Did he rename it to this:

US_epad-user-10.6.1.8.zip

and place the file on the ROOT of the sd card?

Btw, when you download from Asus website, you have the downloaded zip file. Inside that zip file is the file to be renamed and placed onto the ROOT of the MicroSD card.

Also tried renaming it to WW_epad-user-10.6.1.8.zip, placed in ROOT of sd, starts, within 1 second the Droid "dies" and is on is back...

He unpacked the Asus zip once. There were 2 zips, which he tried both.

Thanks for helping :good:

I thing you tray fastboot

First push power + volume down
Get to menu last from 4 or 3 items (faktory reset) push volume up.

After that reboot and hold power +volume down to get to recowery menu

Choose USB flash and use usb cable on your computer to flash blob file with command fastboot flash recovery blob (from Asus update zip) - around 10 min and after that when finish do fastboot recovery reboot

Sooty for me bad English

Thanks man, but fastboot isn't going to work since the bootloader is still locked...

edit: when I download the Asus update myself and unzip it once, I only get 1 file: EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip
