FYI

For people deciding to try this update if in any given case you are stuck on recovery or in the M boot logo, feel free to flash the last SBF availableso you can return back to JB, this update doesnt sign the bootloader so we are able to revert. Discovered it because mine got stuck on boot after flashing update thru stock recovery, i just flashed back JB thru RSD.

You can flash an older bootloader over the new one on a locked phone?
If you are on the latest JB and you have your bootloader locked, and you decide to try this update that has to be flashed thru stock recovery, if the update to KK fails using this method, you can flash back your latest JB thru RSD without no issue.

In simple words, don't be afraid to use this soak update, you can go back to your previous JB if it doesn't work or you are not satisfied

I've tried this 3 ways now... all failed.

1st, reverted back to all stock 4.1.2 via RSDLite.

Then, tried to RSDLite the leak zip: says it cant find the XML.

Then, tried to install from SD via recovery. Error: "assert failed"

Then, tried ADB SideLoad. Error: assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "scorpion_mini" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "scorpion_mini" || getprop("ro.product.device") == "smq" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "smq"

Any help?

Posting updates on how to use this thru the stock recovery.
This is how it is supposed to be used:
1 - Flash LATEST stock SBF of JB thru RSD. (Android 4.1.2
Blur_Version.98.30.1.XT907.Verizon.en.US)
2 - After flash reboot phone on stock recovery and proceed to install update from SD card, here select the file that is provided at the begginig of the thread.
3 - After this first flash completes, phone is going to reboot in recovery again, for you to open the menu of this specific recovery, the combo of the buttons is power + vol up.
4 - proceed to install from sd card again and select the same file that you selected on the second step.
5 - Wait for it to finish
6 - Wipe data/factory reset
7 - Select restart system, Phone will restart in KK, enjoy guys.

Keep in mind that you have to follow the explanation at the beggining of the thread or this one, if you dont follow this steps like this, you wont be able to install this update or you wont be able to finish installing the update.

Got tired of waiting for the OTA so I just followed this on a locked bootloader device and it worked like a charm. Had to delete one line of the xml in step one for RSD to work, but other than that, this summary includes everything. Been using phone for about an hour with no noticeable problems (wifi, bluetooth work, etc.) Thanks everyone!

I can confirm..you can't flash back to jb if you already in kk soak test..its give you failed message in RSd..you can't downgrade it..even your phone unlock bootloader..already try it using UL BL and its can't downgrade to jb

Sure:
downloaded the SBF you're RSDing to
Saved it to a folder on desktop
Extract it into that folder.
(then the trick is to edit the XML file that extracts)
open the xml in notepad and it should look like:

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<flashing>
<header>
<phone_model model="SM_JB_VZW_CFC" />
<software_version version="smq_vzw-user 4.1.2 9.8.1Q-94-1 77 release-keysSM_BP_101032.021.32.80P" />
<interfaces>
<interface name="AP" />
</interfaces>
</header>
<steps interface="AP">
<step operation="getvar" var="max-download-size" />
<step operation="oem" var="fb_mode_set" />
<step operation="flash" partition="partition" filename="gpt_main0.bin" MD5="FB3D9083F1B5890BBF2FA8617D31A70A" />

<step operation="erase" partition="cache" />
<step operation="erase" partition="userdata" />
<step operation="oem" var="fb_mode_clear" />
</steps>
</flashing>

the line I've made bold simply needs to be deleted
then resave the XML (make sure it saves as .xml and not as .text)
lastly go to RSDlite and point it to the .xml you just edited and use it as normal
(this involves making sure you have the latest moto drivers, that you have ADB setup, and that you put your phone into fastboot and your computer recognizes it. If you haven't done this before it's kind of another whole process)

not sure if this will help but i hope so!

I followefd these steps exactly, until I got to step 4. When I try to rerun the update on that step, it tells me "Install from sdcard complete" immediately. I go ahead and do the FDR and reboot, and then I just hang on the "Warning Bootloader Unlocked" and bootloop on that. I can't figure this out and it's driving me crazy!

Try to access the bootloader menu by using power + vol up + vol down, and access the stock recovery from there, you should be able to continue with step 4.

I had stock Android on my Razr M installed the OTA update and its bricked now. If I hold Volume Up + Power I get the Android on his back and if I do it again I get recovery. I tried to flash the soak test update and I get Amazon apk error. Do I need to flash Jelly Bean back on it? If so how? Any suggestions?

I'm pretty new here but it sounds like you messed with your original 4.1.2? did you have root and mess with your amazon app? i would definitely flash back to JB. follow my last post about editing the .xml and try to RSD to the 98.30.1
