Official Global ROM

I have not tested it yet, but the official global ROM from 9/21 is apparently here.

http://bigota.d.miui.com/7.9.21/miui_MIMIX2Global_7.9.21_7f94ca393f_7.1.zip

This is not the fastboot version, but the regular 'updater' version. According to some users on the miui forums, it wasn't possible to install, but if anyone wants to try they're welcome to.

I will be working to make a fastboot version of this. Really, it shouldn't be too hard to use sdat2img on the system.new.dat file, then fastboot flash everything from the firmware-update folder.

Update: I was able to flash it with fastboot.
Just use sdat2img on the system.new.dat and system.transfer.list files like this:
python sdat2img.py system.transfer.list system.new.dat system.img

Then flash the system.img, the boot.img, and all of the partitions in the firmware-update folder, using a flash_all script for reference.

It booted up fine. More details to come.

Thoughts after booting (will continue to update):
Many languages are supported, but only able to choose China as the region.
Comes with lots of google apps. Gmail, maps, youtube, drive, play music, play movies, photos, chrome, Duo.
Security patch is 2017-08-01. MIUI version is MIUI 9 Global 7.9.21 | Beta. No updates found in system update.
Fails SafetyNet at CTS profile match.

Overall: I think it's not necessary to install this one. It has the same bugs and issues as all of the other roms, but fails safetynet as well. The best choice is still EU rom.

Nice to see, maybe we will see a new EU ROM now...

^ this tool will let you move from China to Global without unlocking your bootloader, just tried it and it worked perfectly.
From what I read on the mi forum and Reddit the bootl loader still needed to be unlocked. Was that an old version and this new one does not need the phone to be unlocked.

This version 100% doesn't need an unlocked bootloader for the Mi Mix 2, I'm not sure if the older version didn't work or not but this one does. I can't unlock my bootloader through Xiaomi until 3pm tomorrow UK time (72 hour wait) but I flashed the Global ROM today with no issues

Wow it worked. Strange though that the only region I have a choice in during the setup is China though even with the global stable.

if your phone has been unlocked, you can use the fastboot ROM with xiaomi flash tool to do firmware switch, this way allow you pick more region you like like US.
