Hello. Is anybody knows hot to safely downgrade from official 4.4 to 4.2? I mean with all working functions.
Hi there,

I did a downgrade to 4.2 from 4.4. When I first flashed the 4.4 update my WIFI was not working and I had problems with my lockscreen. I simply did a Restore from CWM recovery to 4.2 and everything was like before ... working fine ... so I guess if you do a backup before flashing 4.4 you will have no problems going back to 4.2.

I've been using the stock rom downloaded from sammobile (norwegian countries) and rooted and applied SuperSU which removed Knox for me. I've been running now for several days with no issues whatsoever. I first flashed MYTHIS CWM version, rebooted into recovery, then:

do a full factory reset,

a cache wipe,

followed by formatting /boot, /system, / cache, / firmware, / firmware mdm, / data (in mounts and storage)

rebooted into download mode and flashed using Odin 3.07.

Allowed the phone to reboot fully to the welcome screen,

Rebooted into download and flashed superSU.zip from the external SD card.

Everything works, camera, wifi, phone etc.

Hope this helps someone.

Kernel not seandroid enforcing

Finally flashed the new PHN firmware, mythi's 6.0.4.7 recovery and supersu. everything went fine the 1st time itself (no issues with WIFI and need to flash again) and was able to obtain root as well as use back-up and restore in CWM.

Only issue faced is that
- Stock rom is taking quite look to boot-up
- recovery gives a red line on top below Recovery booting stating 'KERNEL NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING.

just wondering if this is normal or is there any issue. Anyone else having these issues?

I have the same message here, guess that the Android checks on boot what is the default recovery, that's why this message appears...it's not an issue...

I do not think so, it seems to have something to do with kernel mismatch with bootloader as the message does not come with stock ROM, however I installed the Resurection ROM (CM 11 based) and the message appeared during boot.

Also there seems to be an issue with restore of stock 4.4.2 ROM. Though the backup is restored succesfully, several apps give a FC (google play services, com.google.process.gapps, dropbox, hangouts, nova launcher, etc). Tried wiping cache and dalvic still no respite only wipe data/cache works, luckily I had titanium backup and could restore. The same issue with CWM 6.0.4.7 & 6.0.4.8. It looks that we will require an updated CWM recovery for backup and restore of stock 4.4.2 ROM.

Edit: Went back to resurrection remix ROM and flashed the stock recovery just to check if the message was still there. The seandroid enforcing message was still there even while booting to stock recovery. So it is not only with recovery, and looks like there are multiple checks between system, recovery and bootloader.

Since there are no issues faced other than backup and recovery of stock rom as stated earlier, I guess nothing to bother for now.

any of you experience heating problems with this latest update? i mean its overheating way too much compared with the 4.2, especially when browsing the internet, even on wifi. if i stream with flash it gets super hot. also battery life is a little shorter.

Hi, I installed and rooted 4.4.2 successfully, but I still cant hear anything on calls so I am taking it to Samsung for warranty.
How do I clean the flash count and unroot for not voiding the warranty?
What else do I have to do?
Thank you

Hi,

For i9295 you don't have to reset the flash count.. As it is not written in the download mode as on other Samsung devices, but I believe their control software at warranty can access that data. Anyhow, you must be really unlucky for them to verify it.
I suggest you just reflash stock 4.4.2 using Odin, that unroots and restores the stock recovery, good for taking it in to warranty.

Hope I could help!

I think he means flash counter that could be reset with Triangle Away. I saw on other forum that someone downloaded firmware from Sammobile that there is Knox activated in Download Model (Knox kernel 0x0). I heard that is Knox 2,0
But if he used firmware from this thread it should be OK.

Hi guys and gals.

I just recently rooted my I9295 and now i want to get kitkat on it.

Is there a way to install Kitkat without using Odin?
I'm kinda new to all this rooting things but learning new stuff every day.

Looking forward to get some input on my question :)

So I've got a favor to ask...I have the i537 AT&T version and on 4.2.2 a bunch of us used the international version for contacts, phone, and MMS. It was a nice dark blue themed, not this horrible bright white that I have now. Would anyone be willing to upload those files along with the appropriate .odex files? I want to see if they are interchangeable again here on 4.4.2. Thanks!
