I've been using this ROM for a while and I love it. I'm not sure which version of the ROM I'm using but it's android 4.1.1. I don't plan on upgrading since everything is working except one thing:

Most of the apps I'm trying to download from the play store are not compatible now. Can someone upload a working build.prop for me to use? I tried to modify mine to look like a nexus s but it didn't seem to make a difference.

Specifically I am wanting to download the weather channel app, Pandora, Facebook, and Google+.

Sent from my Captivate. Powered by Jelly Beans.
Did you change DPI under build.prop?

OK there are so many things I see that I don't have the time to list. I don't usually answer questions to someone that don't have the slightest clue of what they are doing.

Code:
ro.build.version.release=4.0.1
Lanight never came for ICS. The fact you are running JRO03U(which was the closest leak to 4.1.2 and mind you, no other ROM had it when Lanight released it. Most roms never had it and jumped to 4.1.2).

Code:
ro.sf.lcd_density=200
Change it to 240. Reboot.

I don't know why anyone would copy Nexus build.prop and not the format your original ROM was. Maybe you were looking to research potential causes to make your phone useless but yeah.

Please give me a legitimate reason. Prove me wrong and bring my faith back to humanity. I beg of you.

Edit: sorry about harsh response. Not a typical day, lot of things going on in life. Expect this to happen.

Hey. I think that the fix solved the problem.
Now I have another one:
When I'm connecting the phone to the charger for the night, in the morning the phone is dead. It's been a couple of times already and just started recently. It is possible to turn the phone on after it unplugged from the charger (without removing the battery) .
Any suggestions beside reflash?
BTW I'm still on 8DD.
Thanks.

Not a rom problem. Please flash Semaphore kernel or untick deep idle in devil config if you have it on. Flash the latest devil kernel or dirty flash 8.5alpha. It also depends on your custom settings and things you added on top of the rom. I don't have this problem and no one else seemed to report this so i'm guessing it's either the kernel or the custom settings/things you added.

How often it happens even after doing what been told above? If it was only once, you need to recreate the problem again for a potential fix...

I'll try the things above and report.
It happened couple of times in the last week. I dont have the deep idle on, and I haven't applied any custom settings.
Thanks for your help!

Edit: tried to flash 8.5 - didn't help. Restored from previous backup and flashed 8.5. I'll see what will happen.

It was originally 4.1.1. I changed it to 4.0.1 because I thought 4.1.1 might have been too new. I thought changing that to an older version might trick the Play Store into letting me download apps I wanted.

Code:
ro.sf.lcd_density=200
Change it to 240. Reboot.
All this did was make everything look big and ugly. I changed it to 240, cleared data/cache for the Play Store, rebooted the phone and still could not get the apps I wanted.

I don't know why anyone would copy Nexus build.prop and not the format your original ROM was. Maybe you were looking to research potential causes to make your phone useless but yeah.
It was something I read on another forum (of course I can't find it now...). It was something about Nexus typically getting new versions of Android first. Hindsight is 20/20, now I realize that doesn't really make sense.

Please give me a legitimate reason. Prove me wrong and bring my faith back to humanity. I beg of you.
My apologies. I work 10 hours a day some days and have a newborn child. I don't have much time to spend learning every little thing about Android.

I don't really understand what the purpose of having this thread is if the answers are going to be like this. I will probably start looking around for a different ROM.

Hey, Ace does all this work withouth asking for anything in exchange. If it was me, I wouldn't invested a bit of time analyzing your file. If you want to make your own experiments it's ok, but don't came here shouting "This doesn't work!" when you messed up things without knowing what were you doing.

I will probably start looking around for a different ROM.
Yes, I think this is the best solution for everyone.

Sorry to come out as rude. Reflashing the ROM will fix most issues. The thing is, the purpose of this thread is to fix/answer and not experiment. Anyways, pull build.prop from lanight 6.5. And if you'd like to try different ROM, feel free.

Google market avoid DPI changed phone to install apps.

So the first night was ok. The phone was awake.
Hope it will last.
Now another problem : I cant activate the voice dial from my bluetooth headset. I think that it is since I've updated to 8DD.
It won't work on 8.5 ether.
Another thing is the network selection - I'm choosing my network manually and when the phone is restarted it won't connect to the network by itself. I get an error that saying no service . Selected network is unavailable. So i need to chose the network manually again.
Thanks.

Probably you need update Voice Search to the latest version
Earlier Google Search versions prevents from using 3rd party voice dialers if you're using any

Music on SD Card

I'm using 8.0 DD

I have all of my music on my external SD card in /emmc/media/audio/music/

After the phone is on for some time, going to the music player shows no music. It seems like for whatever reason it disappears (it is usually working shortly after boot). I've tried unmounting/re-mounting the SD card with no luck. Restarting music player (Winamp or Google Music) does nothing. This only happens with the LANIGHT ROM.

Other than that, my phone is terribly slow/unresponsive, but I haven't found a better ROM yet so I guess if other people still like using this ROM on the Captivate, it must just be me. Oh well, WP8 is out so I'm just using this phone until I upgrade.

I have the latest version of voice search. I don't use 3rd party app.
Usually when i pressed the button on the headset it was starting voice. Now it sometimes dialing to the last number and sometimes does nothing. Is there any way to fix it ?
Thanks.

The phone was dead again this morning.
Is the fact that it is impossible to turn the phone on until I disconnect it from the charger saying anything?
Also the battery isn't fully charged.
I'll try to flash different kernel.

Flashed 8DD and semaphore.
Also applied ringtone, sms and lanight theme. The phone was dead in the morning.
Other suggestions?

You wouldn't happen to be using a launcher would you?

I had those same issues while using GO Launcher, I tried leaving only the stock Trebuchet that comes with LANIGHT and everything seems to work great now.

I do wish this trebuchet was more configurable but in the end I prefer speed and stability.

Btw I'm using 8.5 now

I just installed lanight 8.0 and oh boy it seems fast! But for some reason Gallery crashes instantly and thus I can not use the Camera app at all. :( What do?

Oh yes I see. Flashed that fix and now it seems to work...great! Unfortunately I sometimes get android.process.media force close, don't really know why it's doing that.
