People here wrote about SOT many times. But not less important (I think even more important!) is how CPU behaves when phone is idle. Is it mostly in deep sleep state? Or it stays for most of the time in active state, for some reason? Could you make some observations and share them here?

I'm asking because I wanted to buy Xiaomi Redmi 3 phone, but for me two things are important:
1. Good LineageOS support.
2. No surprises with (almost) empty battery after some time of phone idleness.
I currently use Android One device, and I have such an experiences with CM13. After some time I had to return to stock ROM. But that wasn't my favourite solution.

Redmi 3/Pro isn't a phone to buy in aug 17. buy some mi5s or something..

I've only been using lineage OS for a few days. I get around 4-5 hours of SOT. Lineage OS is pretty stable here, the current issue I have is that I can't add a second fingerprint like I mentioned above, apart from that everything is good. I use greenify to kill background apps so that my battery can last a bit longer.

Yeah I agree, if you want better custom ROM support try Redmi Note 3 or the new Redmi Note 4 for mid-range phones since they're more popular..

My Redmi 3 is still very good, so personally I might wait for Redmi Note 5 if I want to upgrade..

Actually, with mine I get a small battery drain on idle.

At night with aeroplane mode, around 3%/5%.
At day, with WiFi, around 1% per hour.

For me it's a good option Redmi 3. But I'll wait until next redmi appear.

Good luck!

@irfanfadilah, @goldentig3r: Probably you're right. But two things are nice in Redmi 3 - its relatively small and it's quite chip. I fill more comfortable, when I know that if my phone had been stolen, broken or lost, finance losses would be possible low. Besides I don't play any games. I just need phone possibly fast in daily usage, with reasonable battery, gps receiver etc. And of course with good LOS support.

But I will take a look at your propositions once again. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply, but not only SOT is important. I would say SOT is more important in case of intensive phone usage. In other case I think more important is low power consumption in idle mode (CPU should stay in deep sleep state at most of the time). And solutions such as Doze or Greenify not always will be effective here. For example I've got big problems with unexpected wake locks with Android One CM13. They were occur average once a week, and it seems guilty was kernel. The only (temporarily) solution was device reset.

This is the most important information for me. Thank you very much! If the values you gave are repeatable, they're acceptable for me. Didn't you observed considerable increases of this values from time to time?

Do anyone else have some observations in this matter?

As I was able to check, the values are still the same (after a couple of weeks). On the other hand I'm trying to improve that values. How? Just removing some thing from Doze, disabling Location, .... But for now, the drain it's around that values (in my case). Sometimes awesome (only 2%) and other times worst (5%), on night of course.

Regards.

It's easy to check what's going on with app like CPU Spy. You could precisely check how long CPU was in particular states.

So I've installed Lineage with proper Xposed and now framework is working, but immediatelly got another problem with no access of media picker to root storage. it sees only media files stored in /sdcard/ringtones, but not in /system/media/audio/.... Any idea what is wrong?

No, you need custom recovery (TWRP recovery recommended) for flashing any custom ROM.
About GApps, this device works over arm64 architecture. Android version depends on the ROM you'll flash.

But for Lineage, select arm64 and Android 7.1.

Are Substratum themes fully working for everyone?
I have considerable problems with all themes when I let paint Android System component (app crashes, reboots). It looks like some clash from the OS side.

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 7.0 (Nougat), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

Long time no see? Heh i was busy with some other stuff. Though i managed to prepare sources for official weekly/nightly build. At these point we are going for weekly build because of some infrastructure issue. I updated the thread thoroughly. On this build there is several fixes like enabled Sdcardfs, Both sim as 3g, CVE and some other. Issues like battery percentage goes to 100%-97% after disconnecting charger, LED lagging will be fixed on next build. I uploaded patches for them on gerrit. Nothing more, go and grab the build. :)

    Reporting Bugs
    • DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
    • Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
    • If it is a random reboot, grab dmesg . (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
    • If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues.

    Frequently Asked Questions:

    Q) Where are Developer options?
    A) Go to Settings > About phone, and press five times on Build number.

    Q) How can I enable root access?
    A) Go to Settings > Developer options > Root access, and enable it for apps, adb or both.

    Q) I don't like superuser icon in statusbar, can I install SuperSU?
    A) Yes, that would not show superuser icon in statusbar. This can break things.

    Q) How do I update GApps? (Also useful if you have GApps related problems).
    A) Reboot to recovery. Wipe System, Cache and Dalvik Cache. Install ROM + GApps. (Yes, without rebooting). Reboot.
