yea, the stock rom checks for the impedance of the device, if it's a high impedance device it will automatically adapt into high impedance mode, if it isn't then it will work as normal mode. lineage os doesn't have that baked in. apparently, it's not trivial work to re-implement it in lineage os.

at least in LOS the problem of volume when switching on DAC must be resolved as high-impedence (200 ohm?) means greater voltage out of the audio amp. and if that happens while headphones of low impedence (16ohm typically) are plugged in it will be overloaded.

What you say sounds like there is lack of technical info for custom driver design due to proprietary bits.

from stock 8.0, reboot to bootloader, fastboot oem unlock, then you can use dirtycow (unpatched on newest firmwares) to get root and flash your recovery - there are a plethora of other exploits that work to root the device.

You can alternatively simplify all of this with lglaf (https://gitlab.com/runningnak3d/lglaf) - but the point is, a lot of the guides here on XDA needlessly complicate this whole process.

I tried dirtycow on 10u and it failed at the logcat -s recowvery step. I ended up creating a mAID usb stick and using the lglafsploit on 10p.

Video works on Selfie and back cam. Photos work on Selfie and back cam. No special files needed to make things work.

Bluetooth volume works normally in my experience. The volume issues I've experienced is with wired headphones/headsets. The volume on calls out the 3.5mm jack is very loud even at the lowest setting.

I'm using an h918 so not sure if this info will work on your model:

I used lafsploit on a freshly flashed 10p KDZ. Used these instructions with a mAID USB system. For flashing 10p KDZ I used modified LGUP 1.16 using these patches (using the "Refursbish" option in LGUP not the "Upgrade" one.).

Also note that when you run lafsploit from the mAID system prior to to running 'git pull' you first have to run 'git init'. After TWRP is flashed to bootloader you might want to flash the laf restore .zip to get the original LAF back which might be useful if you ever plan to do more KDZ flashing or sell the phone.

One other thing I noticed recently - it seems like after applying the latest LOS update from the Updater that it's necessary to go back into TWRP and wipe Dalvik/cache and cache. Otherwise eventually the phone starts crashing.

Yes, just make sure you flash in an old enough stock ROM to get the process started. So far I've seen H990DS and H990N builds are perfectly compatible with each other, since nobody seems to touch the Modem part which is the only real difference between the two (they're physically optimized for different LTE frequencies, though there's a lot of overlap too).
