i have a strange problem

when i use built-in updater to update the phone

the download process will often stall/stop

but during this time i can still use internet, e.g. chrome browsing normally

i have to turn off and on wifi again, then resume download

usually i have to do this 2-3 times for the update to completely download

do you have the same problem?

i will find a way to fix the problem. i always do.

you may have run into whatever issue i had that required switching from TWRP to LOS recovery a few months ago due to bootloop.

basically had to flash latest LOS recovery, use that to reflashing LOS plus noticed updated MtG, then had to reinstall several google apps over themselves to fix permissions errors.

i posted in thorough detail about my troubleshooting method and all that fun stuff on reddit, since i use that regularly.

Just got an urgent text notification from my carrier Metro By T-Mobile (formerly MetroPCS):


Does anyone recommend a good carrier in the USA that doesn't require VoLTE?

if you haven't noticed by now, everyone will be requiring VoLTE but that and VoWiFi both are industry hot messes for the last decade (this has been causing so many problems for me through supporting my parents in the last couple months).

my recommendation is move your phone number to a voip service, like google voice (for americans), then you can at least avoid some of the hassles, but still may potentially be issues calling 911 as that is not really clear (and likely also broken by ATT whitelist crap).

I have broken navigation in V20 h990n.
GPS test shows no satellites no any information.
I can try download all apk from original firmware install something related to navigation.

Any other suggestions what else can I take from stock rom?

Consider Line 2 service/app. Over ten years ago, I was already on that data only plan hack for mobile on my OG Galaxy Note 1 with Line 2.

None. LGE built IMS into the frameworks/java side, and it can't be reversed in any meaningful way.

Hey. i tried with LOS recovery but forgot to tell you. This was success. now i can get OTA updates and install them directly.

I updated today and for some reason everytime I turn on Wifi it turns itself off. Bluetooth doesn't. Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem.

Is it okay if I ask how you guys are getting along? I see there's always some work done on your Linux 4.4 repositories on Github but since this reply I get the impression that you talk about support for newer Android in this thread pessimistically nonetheless for some reason.

Is it possible to give a rough judgement on the chances of us having Lineage 19 (or preferably above, wouldn't mind seeing Android 12 skipped) by the time Android 11 stops receiving security patches from Google?

I only recently moved to the V20 (might be a bad idea in the long run but even if that's the case I'll at least have experienced the swansong of old-style phones in terms of batteries, etc It's been great so far) and just want to have those security updates for more than ca. 1.5 years if possible.

Also thank you so much for the work on LOS, at least to @npjohnson (idk how much work anyone else put in lol). As things are LOS 18 is serving me well, I don't have any meaningful complaints.

Well this is getting a bit off-topic given what this thread is about, but i think i can answer that briefly.

The short answer for the 4.4 kernel is: So far, it's working reasonably fine. Most things work and in theory we can get Android 12 running on it as of now. However, what doesn't yet work is pretty critical to the phone, namely USB, Audio and Camera (there's probably something else, but i'm not home to look at the local docs right now). Every single one of those is pretty complicated to fix due to the lack of documentation, and none of us being well-versed in low-level stuff like i2c calls and etc. but we're trying to get more help though.

As for the rough judgment... well, the chance is 100% now, the V20 can get Lineage 19-19.1 running on the 4.4 kernel with some work, but those problems above will render it basically unusable for most. The overall negativity surrounding the newer android versions is because we don't even know if we'll be able to get the newer kernel working 100% with the phone since we've been stuck with those three key difficulties for a while, hence we don't think there will be a perfectly functional A12 build for the V20 very soon and are refraining from bringing it up all that much.

The latest version of LOS is installed. If the battery level is less than 50%, then OpenCamera and even the Camera from the LOS firmware begin to freeze and slow down, as if there is not enough energy for the processor or something else. How to fix this and does anyone else experience this too?

For me camera is slow and freezes (usually when quickly zooming) often, didn't pay attention when it was less than 50% or not. Currently using an original battery (about a week old) H990DS

Edit:
Unfortunately, Open Camera just froze me while being at 50% and plugged in. I think it can always freeze for me. But I opened it quickly after restarting my phone. Not sure how would it go under normal conditions.

I have installed LineageOS 18.1 vs995 and us996 for lg v20 f800L but camera not working, double tap to turn on screen not working, no single sensor working, fingerprint not working, please let me know how to fix.
