Hi,

I've been rockin LoS 18.1 on two Samsung Galaxy S5s (KLTE) since it was released. Recently I learned that this hardware/OS combination does NOT support Voice Over LTE, due to Samsung's proprietary VoLTE implementation. Since my network is AT&T (via Consumer Cellular), their turn off of 3G at the end of February will turn my phones into a pair of too-small tablets. Data will continue to work, but making or receiving phone calls will stop working. This is NOT the fault of the developer or LineageOS, they did a bunch of spectacular work, this catastrophe falls on Samsung.

TLDR: Does this LoS 18.1 implementation for the G7 Power and Play make phone calls via VoLTE?

Will this OS work with Google's safetynet? I will of course put gapps on it. But I would like to switch to LineageOS for speed and a bit more control. But I need to use apps like banking.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I am kind of new to the whole rooting and reflashing scene. If you could hit me up with how to get it working with Google's safetynet I'd highly appreciate it.

I really don't know, as I don't bypass it myself. My device fails the check.

Hello, I've had LOS 18.1 on my G7 phone for a while now. I noticed that my lock screen is very dark. It also remains very dark when entering the PIN. It only gets lighter when I press the power button or drag the menu down from the top. I don't have the problem with my G5 with LOT 18.1. I also did a factory reset on the G7 but it stays very dark on the lock screen. This is e.g. very bad in strong sunlight.

Hello everyone. I've been using lineageos 18.1 river on xt1962-4 for a while. A pretty solid ROM, so, many thanks to the devs! However, there is one issue spoiling the experience for me. It is a possible bug in the gps/gnss service both with and without assist data.
I don't have to use location and navigation very often, so it only have occurred to me recently, that this service is messed up.
What happens? Google Maps navigation is unusable, it doesn't know where you're at, gets roads, exits, streets mixed up. Google Maps finds your location very inaccurately, showing some crazy wandering around 1000 feet to and fro while you're staying absolutely still.
1) That couldn't possibly be a gapp issue, since this location inaccuracy, random walks while not moving an inch show up in many other location/navigation apps. Like GPSTest app gives an avg error of up to 700m sometimes with or without assist data, i.e., with or without cell tower triangulation, not just with bare gps/gnss. CycleDroid app on this ROM when tracking lets you walk over buildings, trees in some bizarre and drunk paths So does Google Maps trip history. While, GPSTest gives a good satellite status picture, to rule out a simple gps receiver malfunction
2) Why is it not a faulty gps/gnss antenna or chip? Because, the same Google Maps trip history is fine when being recorded with the previous version of los 17.1 I had on the phone before. To test this hypothesis, I downgraded to 17.1 (from July 2020) and voila, location both and navigation all work as expected.

I saw a couple comments on a similar issue from April of last year here. It appears that it never came to any resolution though. So, I am wondering, whether anyone else has ever noticed this issue? Please, let me know if you need any other info. Thank you!

Volume/Microphone Bug - normal calls:
There is one bug I‘m unable to fix: The volume of the microphone and speakers is much too low in normal phone calls. Both modes (normal and hand-free mode) are affectet and the same probleme exists with the original google call app from the PlayStore.

Playing Music/Videos, etc. with Firefox/VLC/… works great. Also recording apps like Hi-Qmp3 and Calls with Whatsapp are working perfect - as with stock rom.

I tried to root the phone and manually change the mixer_paths.xml but it didn’t solve the problem. Maybe I didn’t find the correct values in the file. I tried the App "Microphone Amplifier" but it changed nothing.

Has anyone a solution or any ideas what I could try to fix it? I installed 2022_01_15 nightly from the official LinageOS page.

There are two minor problems, for me it doesn’t metter if they stay:

Sometimes (mostly after a reboot), the displays shows completly wrong colours. When I make a Screenshot while the wrong colours are shown, the colours in the Screenshot are normal.
I found a solution to fix the bug temporary: Change the „Colour“ options in the system settings between the 3 options a few times, then the colours will be instant correct.

There is also a problem with the GPS: Apps like gmaps have problems to find the destination and if they find it, it’s often inaccurate. The App „GPS Test“e.g. shows always instant the correct positon.

Today i got my new G7 Power. I unlocked bootloader and installed lineageos recovery and lineageos 18.1, but i am unable o flash Magisk.zip (V24), i get message "Failed to find update binary META-INF/com/google/android/update-binary".

Case in point: the g7 river XT1962-6 (dual sim GSM) does not support radio freq. 600 or 700 MHz which some (USA) carries use for volte.

So i'm in the market for a new phone. Any recommendations for a similar device that lineage supports?

My requirements are:
analog FM radio (a must),
external sd card (a must),
GSM network (USA mostly but Europe and Asia compatible are helpful) an interal CDMA "sim" plus external GSM sim slot would work for me,
comparable battery life to the g7 river (for my use case, i go 7-10 day's between charging on this device - this is a must).
supported by npjohnson would be very nice - I've never had it so good since you started maintaining these devices.

Warning, analog fm is going to be your limiting factor.

Hi. Reporting a quirky thing - everything had been working great with this ROM on my G7 2019, and then, a few weeks ago, my PNC Bank mobile app ceased working. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app several times, but no luck. The same version of the app loads fine on my tablet. The problem has persisted across several OTA updates to the ROM. PNC is saying there's no other reported problems or outages with the app, so could this possibly be ROM related? I thought about factory resetting and reinstalling the ROM to see if that might fix whatever is preventing the app from loading. But that seems like a lot of trouble for a banking app that I don't use that much... Any ideas? TIA.

Well, decided to wipe and reinstall an old ZIP that I had in my downloads folder, and that worked. Then from there I updated directly to the latest update, and that worked too. So somewhere along the line, there was an update ot the ROM that make the bank app stop working, and uninstalling/reinstalling the app and updating the ROM didn't fix it but wiping and starting over did, I guess.
