Do you me
Is that when upgrading from LOS19 to 20

Do you mean when a dirty flash on top? I would say since we are discussing the person doing the compiling, my guess would be it's a clean build. But I certainly wouldn't want to speak on the behalf of someone else. I dropped this build down on a spare Pixel 2 and am not using a SIM, but only WiFi connectivity. Notice some of the delays others discuss here. I may drop a logcat and see what other information I can pull.

In the LOS instructions there is an instruction link for upgrade from LOS 19 to 20 - that was the premise of my question.
I would clean flash anyway!

Very nice work!
Could you explain the differences between the official and the unofficial release?
Is the Google camera included in the unofficial release as it was with LOS 19.1?
Also, version 20 uses a different camera API. You can read more information below. Actually have used it on one of my other P2's and it's not too bad. I still prefer the ported Gcam though.

You're confused - that's not how that works. CameraX is just the backend library used for Camera applications - Google Camera uses parts of CameraX. It also has software processing added by Google.

So, CameraX doesn't effect us at all except prettier camera app.

@npjohnson Hi Mate,
Just installed your Unofficial 18/1 to my walleye for a look. I'm BACK!!! only went back to LOS 19.1 official.
All progressed great. After backup and installation of apps i always like to restart my phone.
After restart, i no longer have cell connection. A few more restarts and still no connection.

I've clicked on the network, sims button which just takes me back to the settings screen.
So, the phone believes i have no SIM.

@npjohnson I'm guessing you haven't seen my previous comment and I've made some logcats in the meanwhile. I have 4 issues:

For some reason, when I watch YouTube (to be more specific, in Free Adblock Browser in landscape mode), the smartphone will freeze indefinitely and never unfreeze until a hard reset.
What makes this peculiar is this: the screen stops refreshing, no buttons work, you can't even lock the device or do anything, but videos keeps playing normally behind the frozen image, videos buffer and switch to the next one, with sound. You can listen to videos like that, but... as mentioned, the screen never, ever updates until a hard reset.
In this folder you'll find 4 logcats of 2 occurences titled "hard freeze" (2 different logcat modes for each) which I took while the screen was frozen: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/2/folders/1-6g0OOtdpiABCMLeyKYx8QN1CXH0KPKW

Most of the time when the device has been locked for some period of time, the screen freezes for 2 to 3 seconds on unlocking. In the same folder as linked above there are 2 logcats of 1 occurence named "unlocking freeze" in which the screen was frozen for about 3 seconds, 1 second after unlocking. I took both logcats several seconds after the freeze.

The newest TWRP won't work with this ROM. It always shows 0 MB of storage space (I'm guessing it won't mount any partition) both in `fastboot boot` and in `fastboot flash recovery`, so a nandroid backup can't be made. Is it possible to make a nandroid backup at all with this ROM?

Is KeyStorage API working and up to date? The KeePass app asks about this.

Thank you.

no clue on the freezes - they don't happen here in the YouTube app.

I'll look at the logs.

TWRP - no clue - I can't/won't do anything to support it - they change stuff too often. You'd have to reach out to them.

KeyStorage uhhh, we use nothing special there - same setup as normal Android 13

I noticed that sliding down the notifications using the fingerprint sensor works during these 2 - 3 seconds.

I've just realized I can pull down the notifications the usual way, without gestures, during those freezes.

I don't use the YouTube app at all, for that matter (FAB blocks ads on YouTube videos without root access).
But I think it has to do with portrait/landscape switching while fullscreen/not fullscreen and maybe with locking/unlocking the device. It's happened 2 times in total.

As for TWRP, they haven't updated it since early 2019 and from what I've been seeing they don't care about supporting old not brand-new devices (come on, Pixel 2 is equivalent to modern smartphones specs-wise), so that means no backup. Not a big deal, cloud sync is enough these days tbh.

I upgraded smoothly from LOS19.1 to LOS20. For both I had and still have the problem, that Google Maps (installed form AuroraStore; no GAPPS installed) won't find a GPS position, although the green sign in the corner indicate location access.

Only if I run apps like OSMAnd or GPS-Test (both working well on same device) for a GPS fix some seconds before, Google Maps finds location and can be used for navigation. But switching off device for some minutes same again: Google Maps won't find the location without the help of one of the other apps.

What is the reason for this? What is the difference of the apps principle of accessing GPS location? And how I can achive a working Google Maps fix on google free LOS20 on Pixel 2/walley?

Maps relies on Google Services I'm pretty sure. Wouldn't expect that to work.
