No matter which camera I use. Everyone starts and freezes immediately, or doesn't take pictures. Only after at least three attempts a few shots go. The front and the back are the same. Also in 16:9 or 4:3. This is not satisfactory, as I use the camera very often. The other problem see below: command as admin, command user and terminal

adb devices
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot devices
fastboot boot twrp-3.5.0-lake-v2.img
Sending 'boot.img' FAILED (Status read failed (Too many links))
fastboot: error: Command failed

PS C:\ADB and Fastboot> fastboot boot lineage-20.0-20230131-recovery-lake.img
Sending 'boot.img' (26541 KB) FAILED (remote: 'unknown command')
fastboot: error: Command failed

Those commands fail while in bootloader/fastboot mode? If so, that is the USB 3.0 bug that some G7's have.
Try a physical USB 2.0 port on your PC or a USB HUB/pass-trough on any other device, such as a keyboard) and it will work.

It still worked. Downgrade to LOT 19.1. All functions of the cameras are fine. Maybe the error is fixed in LOT 20 times, then I try again !!

Right. But I don't remember this issue when I installed los 20, I'm sure it happened using the previous and this nightly release, and it's not always. Often the camera works, and when it happens taking picture if I switch to video it works again.
I can't use camera app (I'm using a memoryu card to save pict and the app needs to accesso to root directory of memory card, and it's not possible), I always use open camera with API 2

in my case after last update camera works fine. Maybe if it work or not depends by other issues?

Well today something bad happened.

I had installed the 20230131 version on Friday. This afternoon I was out skiing and my phone in my vibrated (but no bing in my helmet's bluetooth headset), ignored it of course, but it kept doing it every 40 seconds or so over the next five minutes. Thinking something bad was happening at work I pulled it out my phone and in was in a boot loop.

Tried a power cycle which didn't work and let it go for the day. At home. I tried reinstalling LOS + gapps and it bootlooped. tried it again over USB2 same thing, after a few tries. I factory resetted it and same thing, did the reinstall OS trick, no dice, installed the stock images manually, this kept crashed to fastboot, finally I ran the lenovo restore program and it worked (wheee a June 2019 image!).

So now the phone is in Stock mode for literally the first time since I acquired it years ago (I wiped it before turning it on). I'll put LOS 20 back on it tomorrow and give a report.

The default cam (com.motorola.camera2) was working fine all along from 17.1 to 19.1, but now with LOS 20 I experience the same freezes as you all after some time / several photos taken / switch to front cam.

I installed the apk from 19.1 to rule out a bug in the app itsellf. But same behaviour here.

On the other hand Open Camera works fine as long as I use the Camera2-API. Switching to the "Original Camera-API" and I got the same problens here as well.

The debug edition from Aperture is working fine which I guess uses the Camera2-API by default.

So I would say it's a general problem with the Original Camera-API. Any chance to "restore"/cherrypick the version from 19.1 here?

Yeah, has nothing to do with API's - MotoCamera has an issue.

Well its a clean slate with LineageOS 20 and all seems well again. Perhaps I had a munged firmware hiding in the weed and the restore to stock + copy_partitions fixed it. Its only been a day, but also I haven't ran into the screen not turning on bug yet, so that is a bonus.

Finding out Titanium didn't actually back up my various authentication keys was a bummer to discover, but that is life.

I wish to use google wallet with my phone, but not sure if it have the needed NFC hardware.

In "Device info HW" app it writes NFC=nq-nci
In settings I see the NFC switch, but I cannot set it to the On state.

So do I have NFC in my device or not?

My phone is a Motorola G7 Plus, currently at LineageOS v18.

    Two questions:
    • Can I update from LineageOS v18 to v20 straight away, or would I have to go through v19?
    • Will the update retain things like contacts, apps installed and their state? I am aware that I should make a backup of all relevant data anyway, but I would like to know if these are retained if all works as planned.
(hoping I am not asking things that are obvious to other users!)
    Yes and yes

Great job ! Just done a dirty install including flamegapps and everything is working a treat.
    Thanks.
I'd like to try a build but I cant find an up-to-date proprietary vendor on github.n Is it available?

I didn't expect the first unofficial was released the 5th of nov but at the end of november I'm still waiting for the first official release. Probably there's to much work to do.
Any possibility to download an unofficial version without Google Apps/Pixel goodies included?
Ugh. It's just an infrastructure issue at the moment.

Once they fix that officials roll - it was supposed to be at the beginning of this month.

And no, I won't build without google apps for unofficial.
