Official OREO has rolled out

You need to choose what I did.
But then what happens to me when/if AT&T sends out their Official CRC4 OTA? Do I have to Odin back to CRC2 or what? I had to go through that with my Galaxy S7 Active with Nougat and Odin all the way back several versions of Marshmallow when Nougat finally came out for real. PITA!

Can I update a unlocked att note 8 using a T-Mobile SIM ? I'm on WiFi and have advanced the date multiple times still says up to date and it's on nougat. Wandering if I need a att Sim and if so does it need to be active .. thanks

That's a very good question. I have heard active but trying it with an inactive SIM can't hurt anything.
I have an inactive SIM in my Galaxy S7 Active (Name of Phone obviously) and because it's inactive, it won't connect and thus won't even search for an update. It's my backup phone... I'm just using this as an example to answer the question. If the SIM is inactive, I doubt AT&T is going to see it, no?

this should be a crime. someone should sue them. How the hell do I need to have their service to able to grab the software update for my phone. Thats completely bullshit

It's still worth a try if you can find someone with an AT&T SIM... as I think about my previous statement, the PNONE is inactive, so IT won't connect. That does not mean that the SIM necessarily has an issue - I had AT&T shut the S7 Active off and replace it with my Note 8. They just left the SIM in the Active and put a new one in the Note 8. Duh!

So I updated to an Pre-release OTA via USB side load awhile back

Build Number OPR1.170623.032.n950usqu2cql1

I have been having weird issues and was looking to back to official stock, not that the official Oreo is out, I'm being told up to date, Anyone help me figure out how to make sure I am on a legit AT&T Oreo release?

Official AT&T "OTA" Release is CRC2 at the moment... that's what I am running and if I check, I get "Up to Date"! I haven't done any sideloading with this phone! I used to do it all the time with my Galaxy S7 Active!

No signal increase here in southeastern mass... seems just about the same as it was before the update, but that's fine with me. Like the FPS and IRIS speed/sensitivity increase though... almost instantaneous since update for both! Have been waiting for the battery to re-learn charge cycle, etc. and get better but it hasn't happened... but then again, it could be that I have been using it a lot more since the update I suppose! Haven't really done anything with any of the other features so... ? PIP/Edge Lighting/AOD/etc
I'm in Southeastern Mass on AT&T and still haven't received the Oreo update. Frustrating. I've been on the phone with ATT tech support, they tried to force the update. No luck. I wiped my phone back to factory settings, no luck. Sitting on 7.1.1 baseband v AQH7.

Any suggestions?

Place the update.zip on your SD card and it will install that way.

the update .zip from samsung.firmware.science I assume you are referring to:

This firmware will update your SM-N950U
from version N950USQU1AQH7
to version N950USQU2BQJA.

The file size is approximately 405.1 MB.

The requested firmware should start downloading soon.

I've got the zip file on my desktop, and will move it over to my sd card.

Have folks been using this method to update their Note 8? I used to install custom Roms all the time, but it's been a while since I've tinkered with the phone. Hopefully this own't brick my device.

So I've "successfully" updated to v8.0 using the above method. I'm currently on build 2CQL1. I've encountered a pretty significant issue which I'll have to search through other forums to see if there's a fix. I cannot use Always on Display. It has to be turned off, and..I cannot take the update in Google play for the Always on Display app. If I try and take the update, the phone goes into this weird state: Screen dark except for the edge indicator. Phone will vibrate three times, but screen will remain dark. Only options I have is to try and restart or turn off. I was able to get into the recovery menu, and do a reset to factory settings. After doing this a couple of times, I finally figured it out it was the AOD that was giving me issues. So I disabled it in the phone settings, and will not take the update in Google Play. Anybody else experience this?

Hey everyone, I have an issue with my note 8 at&t version. I wanted to update to the new oreo version but for some reason its not showing up, even when I have my cricket sim card in it, it just says software is up to date. I also checked the security patch and noticed it has not updated ever since I got the phone back in August, I have no idea why the hell that is. Can anyone help me figure this out and update this damn phone?

Probably need to have and AT&T sim card in for it to get the update. Or take it to a Samsung store, like the ones in Best Buy.
But doing it yourself is an option here. Just read more of the forums. It's all here

I thought the cricket sim card wouldnt have an issue getting the update since its an At&t company, it just doesn't make sense why it hasnt even been getting security updates.
