That discussion unfortunately is not for this thread....
Btw, unrelated; your suggestion for a daily driver ROM (a12) with low ram usage and good battery?
Thanks. Much appreciatedThat discussion unfortunately is not for this thread.
But I will say this: low ram usage is a mirage on a linux-based system, and battery usage is often more impacted by background Google services, and your choice of apps, than anything in the ROM. My advice is to use whichever ROM does everything you need it to do, in the ways that you like things to be done, and that is well supported by a decent maintainer.
Well, it's either FBE v1 or v2 (most likely v1). There is no in-between or other alternative. You have given no indication of which release version numbers you have flashed.I tried flashing both individually but on both of them the folder names in the files tab were all in gibberish. Am I missing something?
"Please verify from your ROM's maintainer that the ROM uses FBE v2, before flashing." - Default MIUI 13 (A12 - V13.0.1.0.SJZMIXM) FBE v1 or v2?OrangeFox R11.1_4 Stable (FBEv2) released
I have released OrangeFox R11.1_4 STABLE for FBEv2.
Changelog:
* Fully supports "FBEv2" Android 12 and Android 13 ROMs
* New kernel (Velvet-Cyprus_v2.1)
* Latest upstream commits
VARIANTS:
This release is only for ROMs with FBEv2 encryption.
Please verify from your ROM's maintainer that the ROM uses FBE v2, before flashing.
NOTES:
* This is an FBEv2 release for Android 12/Android 13. Do NOT use with Android 11 or earlier.
* Do NOT use this release with FBEv1 ROMs. There is a separate FBEv1 release.
* There is full support for all FBEv2 Android 12 and Android 13 ROMs.
* Make a full backup of your data and internal storage before flashing.
* After restoring backups that include encrypted data, and booting to Android, you should reboot the ROM once or twice, using the power button.
* Report any problem in the "OrangeFox Recovery Support" chat on Telegram. You should make a FULL report, and include the recovery log.

v1"Please verify from your ROM's maintainer that the ROM uses FBE v2, before flashing." - Default MIUI 13 (A12 - V13.0.1.0.SJZMIXM) FBE v1 or v2?
It uses FBEv2, which is not compatible with the original FBE ("v1"), and which requires a totally different kernel and recovery. OrangeFox Recovery supports FBEv2 on Android 12 and Android 13, but not on Android 11 (not for technical reasons, but because I have no time to maintain a recovery release for just a single ROM).Can someone please help me get my head around what the issue with LineageOS is? I am still on A11/LOS18.1 at this point, I haven't been able to upgrade yet because I am unable to decrypt my data partition, no matter what I do. I was using pattern lock which didn't seem to be supported, so I switched to PIN but even entering the correct PIN didn't work. I tried removing PIN/passcode completely and still no luck.
I saw some vague comments a few pages back about LOS device trees and their implementation of FBE being a problem. Am I to understand that there is NO WAY to decrypt data if using LOS18.1? If that's not the case then what do I need to do, I'm going crazy trying to figure this out.
I don't understand the question. There is already an FBE v1 release.
Wrong. Backup and restore works fine, at least, with custom ROMs. I don't know about MIUI 13.If I make a backup with R11.1_3_A12_FBEv1 I can't restore, it's correct?
From Changelog R11.1_3_A12_FBEv1:I don't understand the question. There is already an FBE v1 release.
Wrong, as already explained above. Do you think there is any difference between supporting decryption and supporting encryption? From Changelog R11.1_3_A12_FBEv1:
Support for FBEv1 Android 12 and Android 13 decryption only
The same entry there is for R11.1_3_A12_FBEv2, but after this release for FBEv2 there is the release R11.1_4 which report "Fully supports FBEv2 Android 12/Android 13 ROMs".
So my question is: will there be a version R11.1_4_A12_FBEv1 with Fully supports FBEv1?
Maybe I don't understand the changelog., but I think with current release for FBEv1 I can't write on /data and internal storage, because encryption doesn't supported. Rigth?
I don't know because I don't know how FBE works.Wrong, as already explained above. Do you think there is any difference between supporting decryption and supporting encryption?
Support for FBEv1 Android 12 and Android 13 decryption only
Allow MIUI 13 to persist after flashing
Update the Magisk addon to v25.2
Update to the latest upstream commits
Remove obsolete addons
Lots of other enhancements
Good... PS: I tested read and write on /data and works, so restore should works without issue.

It seems that you really want to flog to death this notion of wiping system. The answer is exactly the same answer that has been given to the several posts you have made about this issue. I will repeat it for the last time:There are some ROMs which requires wiping system, vendor partitions to flash them like Pixel experience. There's no such option in Orange Fox. What can I do to flash ROMs?
