VFAT? You need to switch from VFAT to F2FS Partition (All Partitions - and mainly DATA) to use Miui Beta and Stable Roms.

Just note you need to use EXT4 Partition for Custom Rom.. and when you use Miui 9.12.4 or any Miui Rom, switch back to F2FS Parition before Rom installation.

You can use Magisk 20.1 after... just make sure that System, Vendor and Data is mounted before flashing. Just make sure that you do NOT start erasing apps via root, or you will get a soft brick and you have to install the rom again... do not install Viper4android, or your device wil get soft bricked again.
I have switched back and forth from miui.eu beta to custom rom and vice versa, but I didn't know what type of partion my phone. So I just downloaded diskinfo app and check. My phone cache, system partition is ext4 while my data partition is f2fs. So far my phone has no problem. I even restored nandroid backup of miui.eu from custom rom with 4 wipes and it booted up. I also installed viber4android and no issue so far.

Can anyone encrypt their phone with the Xiaomi (EU) ROM and OrangeFox? I tried it and after, i entered the password to encrypt the phone, it goes imminently back to the main encryption menu.

I found the problem. Normally you have an option in Android called "Secure Startup" to enable this, but in MIUI you have to do this:
Go to "Settings" - "About phone" and tap "MIUI version" 7 times to switch on "Developer options".
Next go to "Additional settings" - "Developer options" - "Encrypt device using Lock screen password" .
Now encryption works on Max 3 with Android 10 but OrangeFox can't decrypt the data partition with the correct password.

You are using Xiaomi.eu - right?

So installing viper4android with magic is a nono? Probably the main reason I root phone, will I bother?

Let me guess - your data was formatted (either by you or by MIUI), and so the /sdcard/Fox/FoxFiles/ directory no longer exists. You know the answer - flash the OrangeFox zip again.
PS: next time, what I need is the recovery logs, not pictures. I normally would just ignore posts like this ...
