FEATURES:
* Built-in support for installing Magisk

Greetings, sorry if the question is noobish, but from a few threads I've read around, it doesn't seem so straight-forward to root the Note 9S. So my question is, when this recovery states support for magisk , does it mean I can just install Magisk Manager, and it'll correctly install Magisk via OrangeFox recovery on this phone?

Anyone can confirm, or tell me what's the process? I haven't found any guides for this phone model, so I wanted to confirm that it's straightforward.

Thanks in advance. :)

Hi! Thanks for the recovery!

This is a great alternative to TWRP. But only one problem, when I factory reset my phone and connect to the PC (after reboot to recovery again), the phone internal storage shows up as empty.

It is simply an addon that bundles a magisk zip installer that you can select and flash from the "addons" menu. For custom ROMs, you should be fine just flashing it like that and rebooting to system.

For MIUI, well, there is only one way - flashing the Magisk app from MIUI, using it to patch a stock boot image, and flashing the patched image. You'd better know what you are doing ...

Thanks. What I meant is sometimes when I try to clean flash with a custom rom, I can't copy the rom file to the phone because of that. It's a little frustrating cause I have to copy the file to the USB, then connect to the phone using OTG, it's kinda tedious. (My computer is not high end, and the copying process isn't... fast)

Well, it is what it is. Better invest in a MicroSD card.

I intend to use Miui.eu, will it also be complicated for that ROM? Or is it just for the stock ROM?

Are the mentioned restrictions and backup approaches/tips for OrangeFox R11.0 of Redmi Note 7 (lavender) posted by you here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-recovery-project-r11-0.3941822/post-79771468 still valid for miatoll devices? Just asking, because they share the same OrangeFox release number, but there might be differences because of different encryption etc. handling by the devices ' firmware.

Some clarification would be helpful, thank you!

Well, much of what is said there applies - but not all, because all that was written with one device in mind.

You might want to read this: https://wiki.orangefox.tech/en/guides/backups

Thanks @DarthJabba9 for the recovery. I wanted to be sure if I can flash this recovery on my Redmi Note 9 Pro India (Curtana) running Android 11.
Also can I flash it 'via fastboot then recovery' method? Is backup restore working?
Waiting for your response!

There are some ROMs which requires wiping system, vendor partitions to flash them like Pixel experience. There's no such option in Orange Fox. What can I do to flash ROMs?
It seems that you really want to flog to death this notion of wiping system. The answer is exactly the same answer that has been given to the several posts you have made about this issue. I will repeat it for the last time:
    1. There is no requirement to wipe system;
    2. You cannot wipe system, even if you wanted to
    3. All that is required for a clean flash is:
    - Flash ROM +
    - Wipe caches/dalvik +
    - Format data +
    - Boot to system
    3
I really wish people would stop repeatedly asking the same question, in all sorts of different ways. I have already given the definitive explanation about how to flash any ROM.

I will reproduce the answer - yet again.

You don't need to format system, vendor etc. even if you're migrating from MIUI to AOSP ROM?
Even if you wanted to, you couldn't.

In any case, "clean flash" simply means "format data" + wipe caches.
    1
If I am to flash a custom ROM, I need to format all partition except Internal storage and MicroSD card. Right?
I format only data partition (using sd-card for rom-zip), and wipe cache before rebooting to system.

Hi i need help. I followed the instructions but i cant mount system and vendor partition. Also my Internal sd card is mounted as read only. I swiped allow modification at first start btw. Im using the latest miui 12.0.1.0RJWMIXM Curtana. Thanks in advance
On MIUI you can't mount system or vendor. And even if you manage to mount them, they will be read-only. That's how Xiaomi has implemented its dynamic partition stuff, and there is nothing to be done about it.

I know of no reason why your internal storage should be read-only.
