So, I don't remember which version of the rom I have, but I just got a notification for an update called "NX659J_ENCommon_V4.13". Is this the update that's causing extra battery drainage, and would I install it?

I've picked up a NRM5S recently and it got delivered today. its quite a smooth phone. (both physically and software) do not like the free case you get in the box, but I'll live with it until I pickup a nicer looking case later.
Questions.
since its new, I read its based on the CN version 3.5 rom? but is it some variation of 3.5 or is 3.5CN the latest there. ... what is the different of the 4.12EU/NA and the 3.5CN ?
Basically what is the best rom / update to use? and is there anything I should be testing on this model for the community to make sure its in good working order.

If you bought it from redmagic NA site. I don't think it's Chinese rom. If you bought it from Ali express then there's a probability of having Chinese rom. Right now don't try to change Rom because there's a lot of confusion between 5g and 5s roms.... 5s rom runs on 5g but not vice versa... So you may end up bricking the phone with wrong rom. So wait a few days... Let them correctly define the naming of roms then choose. Because NA and EU roms are same and there is no difference other than regulatory requirement. Nothing is best, all are identical. Also cn roms don't have Google play and nfc so 3 rom options. For 5g 3 for 5s wait till things are sorted

After the 316 & 413 updates, subsequent roll-outs will consolidate OS.
This means both RM5G and RM5S will have the same updates which will definitely bring the beautiful aesthetics & hopely the stock GPU OC kernel of newer nubia OS on the RM5S to the RM5G

This phone is really the best today, even the rog phone 3 is not as good as this one. (Cooling system, no audio jack, ...)
If Nubia improves a little more the OS, it's perfect

For me, the super annoying "unknown caller" bug is still happening.I have the same question, those who have updated to V4,13 please answer if it has any bugs?
When on 4G called ID isn't working, even with VOLTE on or off.
Everything works fine on 3G, however 3G is so slow there's no way I'm staying on it.

Because I like to purchase it next month.Asus Rog phone Has better software but it is more expensive even the strix edition is more expensive than this.When it comes to hardware and design I like Red Magic better.Im giving them the chance until next month.Hopefully their SOFTWARE WILL IMPROVE,until then.

Is there other bugs rather than that? How about changing launchers and 120 hz option or automated hz display that can change the screen refresh rate automatically depending on apps your using?
Last options are not bug. 120 option available through activity launcher launcher issue fixed

Not that I can think of to be honest. Nubia seems to have fixed mostly everything else.
The screen will automatically lower refresh rates to match the application. Youtube will drop it to 30/60fps depending on the video.
It'll also match games capped to 60fps. 120hz seems pointless, just use 144hz as the battery life is still fantastic.

No bugs for me so far on NonEu 3.16 (NA) Im using stock launcher with custom app icons. Battery is just awesome. (With restricted apps to drain batt in background) Im getting between 8 to 9 hours of screen time.

small customization issues that you can adapt to
I'm currently using the Red Magic 5G (NA version) on the latest ROM. I'm definitely happy about Nubia now supporting third party launchers and allowing me to customize my interface the way I like it. It's not a huge issue but I still find some issues with the Nubia Launcher not giving third party launchers full access to all settings. I'll try and explain this scenario as best I can. For example, if you go into the Nubia Settings to change the LockScreen image, it won't allow it to happen if the default launcher is a third party app (Like Nova Launcher, etc.). It will only allow you to change to the default Nubia images and themes. However, If you go into the default settings and change the default launcher back to the Nubia Launcher and not the third party launcher, you can now change the LockScreen image to whatever image you want downloaded or in your gallery and not just the default Nubia images and themes. So in short, do all your custom wallpaper and lockscreen customizations first, then install another launcher if you want to use one. It's a small issue but you have to take a few extra steps if your someone who likes to change their lockscreen images often. Battery consumption seems very efficient. I love to push my Red Magic 5G so I run it at the 144hz screen display all the time. just make sure to turn on the battery percentage display on the top bar so you always aware of where you are at for charging. I'm very happy with this latest ROM update. I have no issues running it on my T-Mobile service. Wi-Fi connection is always strong. I'm still getting used to the taller slender feel in my hand. I feel the speaker sound quality is now more balanced on the newest ROM update. Previous version I felt sound clearly favored the speaker on the bottom. Initial setup of the fingerprint sensor is still a bit finicky. However, after you have setup your phone, I suggest going back in to the fingerprint settings and deleting all your inputs and configuring your fingerprints again for a second time. I felt this improved the phones ability to recognize my fingerprint security inputs better. Especially if you decide to use a screen protector. Lastly, I'm gonna say the Game Space software still has some issues when you program the shoulder buttons for certain games. First person shooters do well with the should triggers, but games that require a press and hold on a button don't seem to register well with the input on the shoulder triggers. An example would be a game like NBA 2K20. You press and hold a button to shoot. The shoulder triggers (even when adjusted for sensitivity) have a hard time relaying that kind of a command on a button. It treats it like a tap. So I would keep to assigning the shoulder trigger buttons to commands that require a tap rather than a long press. Hope these little bits of info can help.
