Installed V311 successfully on NA RedMagic 5G
Ok, after a good overnight download of the non-eu Rom , I was able to get it successfully installed on my NA RedMagic 5G. I was originally on V308 and did a direct update to V311. After downloading the V311 Rom to my desktop, I attached my Phone via USB and copied over the V311 Rom to my root directory. The rest was pretty straight forward. Open Settings, open System Update, click on the three dots in the upper right hand corner to drop down the system update menu, choose Local update. It should show your Rom zip file you copied over and click on it and install now. Took only a few minutes for the phone to go through the restart and install process. Phone booted up with no issues. I didn't do a reset before updating the Rom. Nothing seemed to be affected. All apps still running as usual. the only thing it did was change my wallpaper which I changed back to the one I use.
1. I still don't like that the phone display turns on to the lockscreen whenever the phone detects the slightest movement. I feel that can continue to be a small battery drain. It seems too sensitive compared to other phones I own.
2. The Battery settings are confirmed that you can now display percentage.
3. I don't know if it's just me, but I do feel like the fingerprint sensor is functioning a bit better now. I felt with the previous rom it wasn't recognizing my fingers as often. And does seem a bit quicker in response.
4. Biggest upset for me (And I know it's already been mentioned) is that there still is no support for third party launchers. I just had to try running Nova Launcher, Apex launcher, Microsoft Launcher again and still no luck getting them to stay as the default.
5. The game space switch launches perfect on my phone. However, the shoulder trigger buttons still don't seem to function appropriately on some games. The touch sensitivity adjustments on the shoulder triggers don't seem to make a difference. This is quite noticeable on games like NBA 2K20 where shooting and passing the ball detects how long you hold a button or tapping. As for my FPS games, the triggers work fine.
Anyway, I'm glad an update was available. It's not the solution to all our issues, but it's a sign that Nubia is making an effort to support their new phone.
