ufter updating can't change display brightness. and can't get into recovery, stuck at TWRP (by siddik) logo.

Guys I almost had a heart attack...
So I decided to update from GUI to 4.13. As the download was slow I pressed "Pause" which turned to "Resume" but I was hoping to see "cancel" also somewhere. Anyway, the download had stopped and I went to download vanilla zip from Telegram. That done it was time to boot to recovery. And this is where it got bad - instead of system or recovery i had Qualcomm Crashdump mode. I also remembered wrong hardware key to enter fastboot. This was the moment for heart attack. I thought I have a hardware brick.
But I found that pressing both volup and voldown will lead to the beloved fastboot. I booted a twrp image, flashed both slots, magisk and boom - here I am with running rooted 4.13 happily. I'm sure reflashing 4.12 would have done the same.
My question - does just starting the update (and postponing it) from gui do something to the partitions to prepare it for flashing? I would like to know what I just survived.
Related question - if for some reason I had broken recovery would that lead me to not being switched back to system partition to boot from? Is that being switched by the recovery software (which was corrupt or absent maybe)

I would almost join you. In my case I am thinking of wasted battery but would gladly accept a software fix instead

Make sure you've backed up whatever data you want to keep to somewhere that's not on your phone; we're going to format the data partition and you're going to lose everything from internal storage.Basic requirements
○ Make sure your computer has adb and fastboot.
○ Make sure you already unlock the bootloader.
○ Enable Developer Options.
○ Open Developer Options and Enable Advanced Reboot & USB debugging on your device.
Make sure you Downloaded these files:
○ Latest OOS (V11.1.2.2)
○ Fajita_(OOS11_Stable)
○ Enchilada_(OOS11_Stable)
○ Latest Havoc Rom [Ver:4.11](DT: Nov 15)
○ Fajita (6T) - Download_Link
○ Enchilada (6) - Download_Link
○ Temporary TWRP recovery (TWRP-3.6.0_11-OP6xT) :
○ OP 6 & 6T : TWRP_Recovery_image
○ Finalize_File (For copying Firmware to Both slots)
○ Finalize.zip
●● Installation Method
○ Paste the downloaded files to sdcard.
○ boot fastboot mode via a key combination:
With the device powered off, hold Volume Up + Volume Down + Power.
or
Open Developer Options and Enable Advanced Reboot
○ Once the device is in fastboot mode, On the computer, open a command prompt (on Windows) or terminal (on Linux or macOS) window, and type:
fastboot devices
○ Temporarily flash a recovery on your device by typing:
fastboot boot TWRP-3.6.0_11-OP6xT.img
○ Boot to TWRP Recovery (TWRP-3.6.0_11-OP6xT):
○ Click Install and select the files and install

We finally booted 12 after 2 weeks of hard work
All credit goes to @OptimussPriime (me) and @zahidmgsk & we worked as team
After lots of testing and re-basing we done it after syberia we are the first guy who done this using own dt and los stuff
