BTW, to the OP - it looks to me like you own an Outback? However your dash cubby looks a little... unusual... Is that the special cubby insert someone on subaruoutback.org was selling for a while?

You couldn't be more wrong on this.

I have this very mount and was using it with the Samsung car dock for the Captivate. The size/weight of both docks is essentially identical. So if it worked fine for the Captivate dock, it should work just as well for the SGS2 dock.

This mount is very heavy and WILL NOT TIP...even when you take a tight turn in your car. At most it will slide unless you secure it with the included hook to keep it in place...then it's not going anywhere.

Trust me on this. I drive a Saleen S281, and am prone to driving a little crazy at times, and if this mount won't tip in my car, chances are it won't tip in yours either.
But a fast corner in a mustang....

lol, jk

Waiting on mine to come in, pending shipment with AT&T, only cost me $22 after my discount.

I just got the Vehicle mount delivered. On top of the box it says Samsung Galaxy S Navigation Vehicle Mount with a sticker saying it is compatible with Galaxy S2 i777. Also on the backside, there is a sticker with the product code which matches the Samsung website's ATT galaxy s2 vehicle mount product code.

Do you guys also see the same thing? It fits fine, puts mobile to car mode etc. Just curious about the description on the word which seem to suggest it is common to both Galaxy S and Galaxy S2.

Is there any possibility that someone could post some pics of how the device holder connects to the mounting arm? I drive a full size GMC pickup and I am trying to get an idea on how I can alternatively mount this on a proclip with some modifications.
I Had a ProClip Mount and just used some industrial Velcro to mount it to the ProClip.

For a car dock app ... I love Car Dock Ultra. Does just what I want and well designed.
Car Home Ultra? It looks alright, but I can't figure out why I need another speedometer in my car.

Is the version of Vlingo in the Market better than the default that came pre-installed? I think it looks better at least. Does anyone know how to change the app that launches when the phone is docked?

Phone Calls Thru The Dock

I received the official Samsung vehicle mount last week and so far...I am quite satisfied. One big question though:

I finally made a phone call using the dock and the caller's audio came from the phone's speaker. Is there a way to have the audio come thru the dock to my stereo? I have the AUX out connected directly to my stereo; and I checked the setting to pass audio thru the dock. Music and Navigation all send the audio to my stereo thru the dock; but phone calls are using the phone's internal speaker.

Previously, when I had the cable plugged in to the headphone out jack, the phone calls would play thru the stereo with no problem.

Any help or ideas? Hopefully, I'm just missing a simple setting somewhere...

my box had the same thing. i'm not sure why they packaged it that way.

I'm having the same problem as Demodave above, though. Are you having the same issue with phone calls not going through the car speakers?

Power Cord

I have 2 of the Samsung car docks. I got one and the 12v dc cord didn't charge the phone. I took one a part and really couldn't find any reason. I hooked the cord direct to the battery and metered the other end. It appears to be shorted. I got a replacement and it did the same thing. I have other 12v cords but the Samsung one is suppost to put out a little more power. I emailed Samsung but of course haven't heard from them. Anyone seen that. Also tryed without using the dock straight to the phone.

This is my problem too. It's annoying and would love a work around. Other than that....this dock is great. i've had it for over 2 months now.

Wow, I apologize for the extremely late response.

Yes, good eye! I have an '09 Legacy and added the connections in the back. Since the original post I've made quite a few modifications because it was rushed and looked bad :]

Running MIUI currently and there is no Dock Sound Support [wom wom]. However, assuming it is the same issue as with the Captivate, try this app:

Galaxy Dock Sound Redirector

Nice car. I want to get one of these, but I'm not sure where I would put it. Does the suction cup stick to the Subaru dash plastic? I've got a 2010 STI and a 2002 WRX.

The suction cup doesn't stick directly to the Subaru plastic :(. Assuming you are like me and want the ability to hide it all away, the included 3M mounting plate most likely isn't an option.

I picked up a Cubby Mount from here: http://www.cubbymounts.com/

I'd shoot them an email and see if there is an option for you. As far as I know the 2010 Impreza/WRX/STI is based on the 05-09 Legacy platform. If you frequent the legacygt or nasioc forums I'm on both and will post pictures of my final phone mount.. eventually :D

Yeah I'm over there (same name). No, the Impreza is its own platform so I'm out of luck. I'm not worried about hiding it, just looking for my best option. How well does it stick to glass?

*cough* The Impreza WRX was redesigned for the 2008 model year and is now based on a shortened Subaru Legacy platform. *cough* :D

Regardless.

The suction cup is really strong on the mount. I actually use it as a desktop mount at the office and that is on a matte painted finish.

That's weird, I've always been so used to the Legacy and the Impreza being seperate. I really don't pay much attention to the STI, its my DD. The WRX is the one that takes the beating :D

Good to know it suctions well, does it sit at a comfortable viewing angle when attached to the windshield?

[offtopic]'08 and up the Impreza was enlarged on the 05-07 Legacy platform (for pure mind blown-ness take a look at the '12 Impreza and '09 Legacy) then in '10 the Legacy was enlarged[/offtopic]

The mount swivels quite well and more than likely will have a solid viewing angle when attached to the windshield.

Also, confirmed that Dock Sound Redirector works with Unnamed + Entropy DD. It has issues with the official Samsung Car Home which I promptly uninstalled.

I've used this with my last 3 phones and nothing beats it. Can even be used with a cover on the phone.

Got it from Meritline for less than $6 and the suction cup holds like a rock on a smooth surface.
